It was a weekend bittersweet for the GasGas factory team. Sam Sunderland claimed a stage win while his teammate Daniel Sanders sustained a fractured elbow and wrist in a crash. Sanders has been forced to withdraw from the Rally. Sunderland currently has the overall bike lead.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone wp-image-4284 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/DakarRallyStage8_Ekstrom-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/> <img class=\"alignnone wp-image-4285 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/DakarRallyStage7_Loeb-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/> <img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-4286\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/DakarRallyStage7_NasserAlAttiyah-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nIn the car class, Sebastien Loeb beat Nassar Al-Attiyah to win Stage 7. Loeb has slowly been chipping away at Al-Attiyah\u2019s commanding lead. Loeb still has a way to go if he is to win the overall rally event. In Stage 8, Mattias Ekstr\u00f6m took the win with Stephane Peterhansel finishing second in his Electric Audi RS-Q Etron.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-4288\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/DakarRallyStage7_Quintero-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nSeth Quintero continues to rack up more stage wins for the Red Bull Junior Team. Francisco Lopez Contardo leads the overall in the light prototype class.
