Dakar Veteran Jimmy Lewis is joining NORRA as Motorcycle Race Director. Lewis will be responsible for updating rules, adding new classes and growing the overall motorcycle experience at NORRA events in Baja. Lewis has extensive Rally experience including several wins and championships. Lewis has won the Baja 1000, Dubai Rally, multiple AMA District 37 events and finished on the podium at the Dakar Rally.
NORRA will split the motorcycle class for the 2024 Mexican 1000 Rally into Pro Rally, Amateur and Sportsman. The Sportsman class is specifically for those who are not looking for a high demanding rally, but simply looking to have a good-time with friends. The Pro and Amateur classes will include road-book navigation and a Baja terrain challenge. There will be special stages that will be for bikes only.
“I want riders to have a stepping stone into rally-raid events like the Nevada Rally provided for me as a young racer, and I’ve never forgotten the Baja terrain from 30-years ago. The NORRA Mexican 1000 will embody that,” says Jimmy Lewis.
