The much-anticipated World Supercross Championship got underway over the weekend in Vancouver, Canada with the Canadian Grand Prix. The races were a battle to the very end with a possible dispute on the podium. Eli Tomac was officially crowned the overall champion with Ken Roczen and Joey Savtagy falling in right behind.
The weekend set-up a very tight title fight for upcoming rounds. “It was a fantastic evening of racing. Kenny rode well in the first two races, and we were battling out there. I found my rhythm in the last couple of races, and everything just clicked. The energy from the Vancouver crowd was incredible, and I’m looking forward to the next round in Perth,” said Tomac. The Yamaha rider secured holeshots in two heat races and the superfinal.
Over in the SX2 class, Shane McElrath and Max Anstie battled for the top position. It was McElrath who would come out on top with the victory. Starting the first heat race slow, McElrath picked up the pace, winning the next two events.
The series heads to Perth, Australia on November 23rd with a double header.
