Chase Sexton Wins Phoenix Triple Crown

The latest round of Supercross, held at State Farm Stadium in Phoenix was part of the Triple Crown. Chase Sexton scored 3, 3, 2. Despite not having an actual podium victory, Sexton takes over the points lead for the season.

Cooper Webb won the first race of the night. Ken Roczen earned a victory in the second race. Roczen had held the red plate coming into the event. Eli Tomac won race 3. Neither overall scores were good enough to beat Sexton who at least scored a podium spot during the three races. Jett Lawrence came close until race 3 where he hit the ground earning a DNF.

Over in the 250 class, Jordon Smith earned Triumph their first Supercross victory. Smith went 3,2,1 earning the top podium spot at in the final event. Cole Davies was victorious in the first two races, but struggled in the third race only to get 8th place far outside of the podium. “It’s unbelievable to get the first win for the Triumph brand… It feels good to be up here and get the win. The track got very tricky. [The track crew] didn’t touch those whoops since this morning so they were treacherous, but it’s just unbelievable to get this win. The bike is amazing,” said Smith.
