Larry Minor Passes Away

Off-Road legend Larry Minor has passed away. Minor began his off-road racing career in the sand dunes with a Jeep CJ-6 in the late 1950’s. Minor, a Hemet, California native raced sand drag events in Glamis.

In 1967, Minor and Rod Hall won the inaugural NORRA Mexican 1000 in a stock 4-wheel drive jeep. Minor teamed up with Bill Stroppe in 1969 in a Bronco and won the race overall. Minor also raced vehicles in the NHRA series. Minor’s Hemet-based shop built several 2-wheel drive tube frame Fiberglass Jeeps for racing in the dunes.

Minor was inducted into the Offroad Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2005.
