The penalty was levied against Jett after he jumped the gate over the weekend at the Ironman Moto in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Jett immediately dropped from third to seventeenth in the standings, effectively ending his bid for the overall season points championship.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_13800\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]<img class=\"size-large wp-image-13800\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/2025-Jett-Lawrence-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/> Jett Lawrence recieved a 1-lap penalty at the Ironman National for jumping the gate. Photo: Honda HRC[\/caption]\r\n\r\n\u201cThat is a set penalty in the rule book, so it\u2019s not a varying penalty,\u201d said AMA director Mike Pelletier.\u00a0 Pelletier went on to say jumping or fouling the gate is a one-lap penalty. Jett had a one-half bike lead advantage over the rest of the field. Jett commented on the penalty saying while he acknowledged the rule, the penalty was too harsh. \u00a0He posted the following to his Instagram account: \u00a0Ironman keys to the race- 1. Don\u2019t hit the gate. 2.
