[{"id":16364,"permalink":"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/2026\/09\/24\/tavo-vildolsola-out-for-baja-1000\/","title":"Tavo Vild\u00f3sola Out of Baja 1000 as Injury Recovery Continues","content":"Gustavo \u201cTavo\u201d Vild\u00f3sola Jr. will not compete in the 2026 SCORE Baja 1000 as he continues to recover from injuries suffered in a crash earlier this year. Vild\u00f3sola confirmed that his recovery is progressing, but he will not receive the necessary medical clearance in time for the Nov. 9-15 Baja 1000, which will be held entirely within Baja California Sur for the first time.\r\n\r\nThe Mexicali, Mexico, racer suffered a compressed spine, fractured vertebrae and multiple ligament injuries to his back during a rollover at the Baja Nevada 1000 in June. Vild\u00f3sola credited his HANS device with helping protect him during the violent crash.\r\n\r\nThe injuries also forced Vild\u00f3sola to miss the SCORE Baja 400 in September. Andy McMillin used Vild\u00f3sola's No. 21 Trophy Truck for qualifying, but Vild\u00f3sola ultimately remained sidelined.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_16366\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]<img class=\"wp-image-16366 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Tavo-Vildolsola-Injury-Annoucement-646x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"1014\" \/> Tavo Vildosola announced on the team's facebook page he would not be racing the 2026 Baja 1000. I\u2019ll be down there anyway, but unfortunately I\u2019m just not getting the proper clearance that I need and I don\u2019t feel that I\u2019ll be ready anyway for a race in November.\u201d\r\n\r\nVild\u00f3sola has undergone a variety of treatments during his rehabilitation, including hyperbaric therapy, red-light therapy, peptide treatments and other recovery methods. However, with the Baja 1000 approaching, he determined there was not enough time to safely return to competition.
