Names include Rita Coombs, Ryan Dungey, Barry Hawk, Grant Langston and Travis Pastrana.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n\u201cThe Class of 2023 includes individuals who have excelled in many different areas of motorcycling,\u201d said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman. \u201cSome are champions in many of our premier racing disciplines \u2014 motocross, AMA Supercross, and Grand National Cross Country \u2014 while others have been significant ambassadors for the sport, creating prestigious events and series that have introduced motorcycling to thousands. We are honored to recognize these motorcycling greats this Sept. 15 at the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame.\u201d\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-5075\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/RYAN-DUNGEY-Out-of-Retirement-Lead-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nRita Coombs is credited with helping to create the Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn\u2019s in 1982. The race has grown to be one of the most prestigious amateur motocross events in the country. Ryan Dungey has numerous Supercross and Pro Motocross titles and is one of only seven riders to have more than 30 450SX wins. Barry Hawk has 98 national championship wins. Hawk is the only rider to win AMA GNCC national championship titles on both an ATV and motorcycle. Hawk later became the manager of the Coastal Racing GasGas Factory Racing team and has helped propel riders to numerous wins and championships. Grant Langston has won both a World Motocross Championship, AMA Motocross Championship and both AMA Supercross East and West Championships. Langston also won a Supermoto and 450 MX title before he retired.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-4306\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/PastranaResized-1736298208-1641937623852-1024x883.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"552\" \/>\r\n\r\nThe final inductee, Travis Pastrana has built an empire of extreme sports. Pastrana started as the youngest rider to win an AMA 125cc National Motocross Championship at 16 years old. Pastrana has won 17 X-games medals. The new members include Dave Arnold, Nancy Davidson, Gary Denton, Tommy Hays, Loretta Lynn, Scott Plessinger, Kenny Tolbert and Ryan Villopoto.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nAll have contributed to the sport in some way. Dave Arnold worked for American Honda, helping to develop some of the greatest racing talents and motorcycles. He has helped Honda shape its Supercross and Motocross program. Gary Denton was a dominate ATV racer in the 80\u2019s and 90\u2019s winning the AMA ATV Grand National Championship eight years in a row. Loretta Lynn has had a massive impact on the motocross community, welcoming 60,000 riders since 1982 at her ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Scott Plessinger was a top off-road racer in the 80\u2019s and 90\u2019s winning several titles throughout his career. Tuner Kenny Tolbert helped develop motorcycles that carried riders to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame. The youngest of the group, Ryan Villopoto has accumulated five AMA Pro Motocross and four Supercross Championships on his Kawasaki. In addition to the titles, Villopoto has tallied 41 main event wins and 31 national title wins earning him the nickname \u201cVillopodium\u201d. A statement released on <em>Facebook <\/em>by friend Lee Ramage reads the following:\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-767\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Lee-Ramage-FB-Post-219x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"219\" height=\"300\" \/>\r\n\r\nMarty Smith rode for Honda and Suzuki in the 1970\u2019s. Smith won 3 AMA Championships. A 1978 crash at the Houston Supercross would leave Smith with a broken hip. He finished 3<sup>rd<\/sup> that year. Smith retired from professional racing in 1981.\r\n\r\nIn 1991, Smith teamed up with Larry Roeseler and Ted Hunnicut Jr to win the Baja 1000.
