Arciero started the race in second position after a blistering fast qualifying run. Four years ago, Arciero was forced to build a new truck after his truck caught fire and burned down at the Vegas to Reno race. Since then, Arciero has seen much success with the truck.\r\n\r\nNic Whetstone was the top qualifier and started out front leading over 400 miles of the race. Whetstone was forced to change a flat at the Rawhide Pit allowing Arciero to get by and bring home the victory.\r\n\r\nPreston Campbell won the Moto Open Pro class while Jason Coleman brought home the win in the 6100 Spec truck class by just a few minutes over second place Jack Olliges. The Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno event was also a points race for the Ultra4 series. KOH King JP Gomez beat his brother Raul Gomez in the 400 class. Bailey Cole was victorious in the 4600 class and Jeremy Jones took a win in the 4800 legends class.","excerpt":"

Arciero secured another win over at this year\u2019s event. The \u201ccomeback\u201d kid story began a few years ago when Arciero\u2019s truck burned to the ground during the race. The next year Arciero came back to win the race overall. Arciero was out front most of the day in clean air after getting the top qualifying spot at time trials. Even with a quick mechanical stop late in the day, Arciero was able to get passed Justin Lofton who had the lead. At some point in the race, Lofton lost a lot of time allowing several trucks to get by including Adam Householder who finished second. In the moto classes Husqvarna had a stellar day with Danny Cooper and Axel Pearson winning in the Open Pro class. Kody Moutafidis and Wyatt Bittner brought home the win in the Open Expert class. The course is already marked for the 521-mile course. More than 230 motorcycles, trucks and UTV\u2019s will take the green flag Friday morning for the legendary race that winds its way through some of Nevada\u2019s roughest terrain.\r\n\r\nBest in the Desert CMO Bryan Folks made an announcement about the permit in a Facebook live video last Friday. \u201cI am pretty excited about that. It\u2019s been a long hard road to get back to where we are today,\u201d said Folks.
