Meantime, over in the 250 class, Haiden Deegan secured in his first overall career for the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team. Round five was hosted at the famed Red Bud Motocross Park in Buchannan, Michigan. Red Bud celebrates its 50th<\/sup> anniversary of motocross racing this year.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nWhen the gate dropped in Moto one for the 450 class, Jett Lawrence wasted no time grabbing the holeshot. Jett dropped the hammer on the first lap pulling away from the rest of the field. Lawrence went on to win the moto with Chase Sexton and Dylan Ferrandis rounding out the podium in second and third. In the second moto, Jett repeated his holeshot performance as Ty Masterpool and Ferrandis batted for second. Jett\u2019s lead continued to grow as it had in the first moto. Sexton went down trying to gain second place from Ferrandis. It would take the final minutes of the moto for Sexton to catch Ferrandis as the two battled again for second place. Jett won the moto with Ferrandis in second, Sexton third.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nOver in the first moto of the 250 class, Hunter Lawrence had the holeshot. Hunter was chased down by Haiden Deegan for most of the moto. Hunter went on to win moto one. Moto two would be an entirely different story. Deegan secured the holeshot. Levi Kitchen quickly moved to the lead. In a turn of events, Hunter went down after being collected in a multi-rider incident. Hunter was taken off the track to receive medical attention, shutting down any hopes of a win. With Kitchen out front, Deegan went on the attack. Tom Vialle and Deegan began a fierce battle for position, but the clock would soon run out. Kitchen took the win, Vialle second and Deegan third. At a press conference in Mantova, Italy, officials announced the FIM event would be held at the Red Bud Motocross track in Buchanan, Michigan next year. Red Bud last hosted the Motocross of Nations in 2018.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe United States team pulled out of this year\u2019s event in Italy after COVID safety concerns.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nTeam Italy\u2019s Antonio Cairoli, Mattia Guadagnini and Alessandro Lupino won this year\u2019s event riding for KTM. It was bittersweet for Cairoli who announced retirement at the beginning of the weekend. His number- 222 will officially be retired. Massive crowds come out to watch the best of the best race for at the famed track in Buchanan, Michigan.\r\n\r\n\"\"\u00a0 \"\"\r\n\r\nIn first 450 moto, Aaron Plessinger started with the lead, but Roczen made a move to get out front. Dylan Ferrandis charged past Roczen for the lead and held it all the way to the finish. \u00a0Plessinger was back in the lead for the second moto. Eli Tomac took that away from Plessinger. Near the end of the moto, Ken Roczen went down in a crash sending him flying off the bike. Tomac won the moto and Ferrandis took the overall win. Ferrandis leads the points standings and keeps the red plate.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nIn 250 moto one, Justin Cooper had the holeshot. His lead was extremely short lived as he tumbled off the bike in a crash. Jett Lawrence went on to win the moto with RJ Hampshire finishing second. Hampshire crashed at twice and was able to recover both times and battle for second. In the second moto, Cooper made a repeat move with the holeshot. Things didn\u2019t so smoothly for Jett Lawrence. He went down and had most of the field pass him before rejoining the race. RJ Hampshire made a major charge pressuring Cooper to take over the lead. Unfortunately, another crash would allow Cooper to regain his lead position and the moto win. The win was not enough for an overall because he had crashed in the first moto. RJ Hampshire\u2019s second place finishes gave him the overall win for the round.
