EcoLogic partners, a joint collaboration between SEMA, ORBA, ASA and AMA recently filed a lawsuit against the Coastal Commission for prohibiting motorized recreation and overnight camping at the Oceano Dunes.

San Luis Obispo Superior Court Judge Tana Coates ruled the Coastal commission abused its discretion by unilaterally ordering the elimination of OHV use at the Oceano Dunes.

“Today’s ruling is a huge win for SEMA, ORBA, ASA, and AMA District 37 in the fight to protect motorized recreation access in California and across the United States,” said Mike Spagnola, President & CEO of SEMA. "The Coastal Commission's efforts to stop off-road access at Oceano Dunes were unreasonable and set a dangerous precedent,”

The Oceano Dunes have been a hot issue with many meetings and people on both sides speaking for and against the closure. In 2021the Coastal Commission demanded California State Parks phase out motorized recreation by 2024. The Oceano Dunes are visited by millions of enthusiasts each year.

A judge ruled in favor of several organizations working to protect motorized recreation at the Oceano Dunes on the Central …

The Adelanto Grand Prix has been canceled for 2022. The motorcycle event, which takes place in the California high desert town of Adelanto had partnered with Best in the Desert for the first time. The reason for the cancellation according to promoter Ty Davis is a dispute with the event organizer at the Adelanto Stadium.

A statement posted to the Adelanto Grand Prix Facebook page read: We regret to inform you that The Adelanto Grand Prix, scheduled for 18th to the 20th of March 2022 at The Adelanto Stadium and Event Center has been OFFICIALLY CANCELED. Due to the Organizers not having the adequate financings, racecourse officials or manpower that will allow us to run a safe and efficient event. We are currently in discussion with our former partners as well as exploring other opportunities to ensure that we can provide a safe and organized Adelanto Grand Prix for 2023.

This very difficult decision has been made following an operation and logistical meetings with the Grand Prix Team. It is vital that we recognize the safety needs of our courses. It is our duty to protect the wellbeing of our participants, volunteers, vendors, partners, and the general public.

Therefore, on behalf of The Adelanto Grand Prix we thank you all for your understanding.

Best in the Desert also posted to the social media site saying they are looking forward to working with Ty Davis in the future. The Adelanto Grand Prix was to be a new addition for motorcycles on the 2022 Best in the Desert schedule.

The Adelanto Grand Prix has been canceled for 2022.
