The show attracts thousands of people worldwide from the automotive industry and is held every year in Las Vegas.\r\n\r\nDue to COVID-19 concerns, the Las Vegas Convention Center, one of the main facilities used by SEMA will not be available along with several other facilities and services needed to make the show happen. SEMA had been working on safety protocols to make the show happen.\r\n\r\nSEMA is looking at options to host a virtual show. \u201cThe SEMA Show is committed to furthering businesses in the automotive specialty-equipment market, and to providing manufacturers and buyers with the best opportunity to connect, promote new products and discover new trends,\u201d said Chris Kersting, SEMA president and CEO. \u201cWe appreciate the spirit, hard work and innovation our industry puts into the SEMA Show each year. Officials were forced to cancel the event citing Michigan\u2019s Coronavirus executive orders on gatherings, performances and events.\r\n\r\nThe group met on Monday and made the decision not to host a racing event. Michigan rules prohibit events to have no more than 500 people in attendance. The Bark River races traditionally draw thousands of fans.\r\n\r\nThe Lions Club released a statement that read:\r\n\r\nAlthough we are disappointed to make this announcement, we understand that the best interests of the health and safety of our club members, staff, volunteers, vendors, sponsors, racers, and race fans cannot be overlooked.<\/em>\r\n\r\nWe look forward to the summer of 2021 when we will provide our fans with the best professional short course, off-road racing in the country. The opening rounds of the season were originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, March 14th<\/sup> and 15th<\/sup>, 2020 at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California. The series says the weeklong forecast leading into the weekend is filled with rain that will present an array of potential challenges in putting on the event. The series was forced to make a proactive cancellation in the best interest of all parties.\r\n\r\n\u201cThis was not a decision that we came to lightly. We know that our competitors have put in months of preparation for this weekend, and we know our passionate fanbase has been eagerly awaiting the start of the 2020 season,\u201d explained Ritchie Lewis, Director of Race Operations. \u201cFrom the moment we became aware of the weather forecast and were subsequently forced to consider making such a difficult decision, we took every single element into consideration. Ultimately, the ability to host a successful event, both for our competitors and for our fans, was the driving force behind our decision.
