JP struck a rock wall in qualifying, blew and rolled down back door dropping his starting position to 99<sup>th<\/sup>. JP passed as many cars as he could on the desert lap, avoiding a massive bottleneck of vehicles in Turkey Claw, the first obstacle on the course. He continued to pick off competitors before getting his own flat tire which took several minutes to change.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone  wp-image-8809\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/2024-King-of-the-Hammers_Race-of-Kings_Chaney-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"612\" height=\"408\" \/>\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone wp-image-8808 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/2024-King-of-the-Hammers_Race-of-Kings_Raul-Gomez-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\u00a0\u00a0 <img class=\"alignnone wp-image-8811 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/2024-King-of-the-Hammers_Race-of-King_Casey-Currie-300x204.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"204\" \/>\r\n\r\nUp front, JP\u2019s brother Raul Gomez, a two-time and defending King was battling out front. Raul flipped his vehicle on his lid on the last lap costing him valuable time, the lead and eventual win. Casey Currie moved to the lead but went down a broken driveshaft. Loren Healy also found himself in the lead before being forced to stop on the course with an issue. Soon, Kyle Chaney found himself ahead of all of the competitors and just miles from Hammertown with two rock obstacles left. Chaney blew a shock on his Can-Am Maverick UTV but continued to push through Resolution and Backdoor, taking the bypass. The tire continued to hold together but was ready to come apart at any minute as Chaney nursed his UTV across the finish line.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8810\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/2024-King-of-the-Hammers_Race-of-Kings_JP-Gomez-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nBehind Chaney, JP was a man on a mission, making up critical time. JP wasted zero time moving through the rocks of Resolution and Backdoor. When JP arrive in Hammertown, he was ahead of Chaney on corrected time securing the win. Luke McMillin was the top qualifier, started out front and had the lead the entire race. In the final 5 miles late into the evening there was a thick layer of dust hanging over the dry lake bed north of Primm. Rob MacCachren was just a minute behind Luke. As Luke dodged lap traffic he slowed for a 90 degree turn on the course. Rob MacCachren clipped Luke accidentally, causing Luke\u2019s truck to roll over at least four times. MacCachren immediately stopped to help and offered to roll Luke back over. The rescue team was seconds away. Luke yelled to MacCachren to go finish and win the race. Rob refused. Luke spent the next few minutes trying to convince Rob to go finish the Mint 400. Reluctantly, Rob headed towards the finish line. He was distraught and emotional as he arrived. Minutes later Luke arrived at the finish with Rob still apologizing. The two won the Baja 1000 together a couple weeks earlier. Brent Fox won in the Spec Class while Chase Warren secured the Class 10 win.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-4048\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Mint400DustinJonesLimitedWinnerWeb-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nJust a day earlier in the limited race, Dustin Jones took home his first ever Mint 400 win, racing a Can-AM. The Pro-UTV driver finished 4 laps in eight hours, twenty-eight minutes and seventeen seconds. Brabec finished the grueling 11-day rally riding a CRF450 motorcycle for Team Honda. 28-year old Brabec completed the 4,900-mile route with a riding time of 40 hours, 2 minutes and 36 seconds.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-127\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/20-Dakar_Brabec_Action_3-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\r\n\r\nRicky Brabec was in the overall lead by Stage 3 and never looked back. The Rally started January 5<sup>th<\/sup> 2020 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It was moved to Saudi Arabia after running for several years in South America.\r\n\r\n\"I'm really excited to be here for Honda and for America as well,\" Brabec said. \"To be the only American to accomplish this goal is amazing. I think it's really a dream come true. Now we've got to set our goals higher and accomplish more\u2026. It was a big, tough race. A lot of kilometers. The team worked great together. The riders were good and the whole team worked well together so I'm really happy. The bikes were really good. We are all here. We are all happy and safe. That was the first goal. I can't thank everyone enough \u2013 Honda, Monster and every one of the sponsors behind us.
