Crandon International Raceway made the difficult decision not to hold their spring brush run event in June.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-828\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/CrandonTrucksFlag_Web-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\r\n\r\nCOVID cases in northern Wisconsin are relatively low, however discussions at the track centered around safely bringing an extensive amount of people to the area for a race event. The population of Crandon itself is roughly 1,900 people. Crandon International Raceway consulted with local community leaders and regional health officials. Everyone agreed it was best to postpone the event.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-829\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/CrandonRJFinishLine_web-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\r\n\r\nJune\u2019s spring brush run event was to be the inaugural race for the newly formed Championship Off-Road Series. As of now the series is still planning to hold its next event July 10-11 at ERX Motorsports Park in Elk River, Minnesota. The brush run event has been rescheduled for September 25-27 and looks to still be a points event for the Championship Off Road Series. Johnson made a video to his Instagram audience over the weekend saying he is not sure how he got the virus that is currently sweeping the nation. Johnson says he traveled extensively during the beginning of March. He attended a NASCAR race, rode a motorcycle all the way to Daytona, shook hands with people at the Daytona Supercross, then got on airplanes traveling through Orlando and Minneapolis airports. Once he returned, he says he began to feel a little sick, discounting it to the all the travel he had been doing.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-646\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/RickyJohnsonInstagram-211x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"211\" height=\"300\" \/>\r\n\r\n\u201cThe good news is I am 21 days into it and I am past all of the bad stuff,\u201d says Johnson in the video.\r\n\r\nJohnson was tested March 26<sup>th<\/sup>, 18 days into being sick. His test came back positive over the weekend. Johnson also says his wife was sick in February and may have already had COVID-19. Today she shows no symptoms.\r\n\r\nRicky Johnson says he got a ton of rest to get better as well as drank green tea, kept himself hydrated, took extra vitamin C, among other supplements and vitamins. Organizers consulted with government officials and health experts on both sides of the border on the COVID-19 situation.\r\n\r\nIn a statement speaking on social distancing, NORRA said \u201cHow can you hold the Happiest Race On Earth if you can\u2019t shake hands, hug your friends, rub elbows while solving the mechanical gremlins that surface, or give a kiss on the cheek that foreign competitors are accustomed to? The friendships, socializing, and shared experiences gained along the way are some of the greatest take-a-ways that racers get at NORRA events. Without the parties, and nightly celebrations, it just won\u2019t be the same Mexican 1000 that everyone loves. A statement read: In accordance with the restrictions on travel and group gatherings amid COVID-19 concerns,\u00a0Monster Energy Supercross\u00a0scheduled on\u00a0March 14, 2020\u00a0at\u00a0Lucas Oil Stadium\u00a0in Indianapolis has been cancelled. There is no word whether a make-up race has been scheduled.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-620\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/SF-250-Malecon-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/>\r\n\r\nDesert racing organizations are moving forward with their planned events. The normal festivities on the Malecon will not happen this year. Tech and Contingency will be held at El Dorado Ranch and is closed to the public. The racers meeting will be held online. The awards ceremony has also been cancelled. Winners will be able to pick up their awards on the Pavilion at El Dorado ranch.
