Ricky Gutierrez struggled in the opening rounds at the Dirt City track back in June. This time around he had his truck dialed in. Ryan Beat was leading the race and was looking for another win until a tire let go forcing him into the hot pit. Ricky G seized the opportunity and took control of the field for his first win of the season. On Sunday, Cory Winner made it through all of the door-banging and contact to also secure his first win of the season.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_10179\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Jimmy Henderson secures his first win of the season at Dirt City. Photo: Mike Roth\/Champ Off Road[\/caption]\r\n\r\nIn Pro-4, Jimmy Henderson had Dirt City figured out holding off the field for a first win of the season. \"Lena and the fans here have been so good to us,\" said Henderson. I got my first off-road win here, and to be able to do it again is awesome. With all the changes we made to the team and the truck, it's all starting to come together.\" \u00a0Sunday, Adrian Cenni took over the top spot putting his bright orange truck on the podium.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_10180\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Trey Gibbs has a commanding lead in Pro-Lite after another weekend sweep. Gibbs has a commanding 85-pont lead with light at the end tunnel towards the season championship. There are just two racing weekends left in the season. The skies cleared, and the rain returned. That is the type of weekend racers had at the final Championship Off Road Race at the newest venue in the series- Mid America Outdoors. Located in Jay, Oklahoma, the track featured long sweeping turns and high banked elevation. Friday\u2019s practice and qualifying were rained out. Saturday, the track dried out enough to give racers a quick practice lap before racing began. Of course, being the final event weekend, championships were on the line. Saturday would be the only day for racing as another rainstorm rained out Sunday\u2019s event. That didn\u2019t stop the series from crowning champions.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nIn the Pro2 class, Cory Winner finally found redemption. In 2021, he missed the championship by a single point. He struggled again the following year. 2023 would finally be Winner\u2019s year. Consistent wins and podiums this season put Winner ahead of Mickey Thomas and Ryan Beat. When everything was fully tallied, Winner won the season championship by seventeen points. Ronnie Anderson came away with his first Championship Off Road win in Saturday\u2019s Pro-2 race.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nCJ Greaves won his eighth Pro4 championship. Seven season wins including Saturday\u2019s race at Mid America Outdoors, put CJ way out front in the points chase and almost untouchable. Even with a new truck, CJ quickly got into the groove with new set up to make it screaming fast.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nThe Pro Lite Championship always seems to come down to the last race. Kyle Greaves has been in the hunt. Trey Gibbs has also been right there to capitalize on every point possible. Kyle stayed consistent only missing two podiums the entire season. Even with Brody Eggleston\u2019s Saturday win, Greaves still came out on top in the final point standings.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nChad Rayford came out swinging in the Pro Spec class. Rayford spent the off-season changing an older Pro Lite truck into spec class rules, adding a new motor that fit the program. He went out got a podium the first weekend he hit the track. From there Rayford had consistent finishes throughout the season. Unfortunately, contact in Saturday\u2019s race kept him off the podium and gave Nick Visser a win. The annual ORMHOF ceremony was held at the Southpoint Casino in Las Vegas. This year\u2019s nine inductees bring the total to one-hundred twenty-eight. The event was well attended with over five hundred people.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nInductees included Evan Evans who was joined by his dad Walker Evans on stage. Walker is also a hall of famer showing this was a proud father-son moment. Scott Douglas also received his induction award for his contributions and championships in short-course and desert racing. Douglas joined BF Goodrich\u2019s Jeff Cummings, Scot Harden, Tom Morris, Russ Wernimont, Mary McGee, Helen \u201cSugar\u201d Fields and Lee \u201cFud\u201d Sieck. Fud passed away in 2004 and organizers decided it was time he receive an induction for his major contributions as a race promoter building the early careers of some of today\u2019s top desert racers.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nSeveral impact awards were also given out at the ceremony. Raul Gomez picked up an award in the rock sports category. Cory Winner also won an award for his accomplishments in short-course. Seth Quintero took home the award in the desert category. \u00a0The final award- the Louis Unser never give up award was given to Chris Blais. Blais suffered a life-changing accident at the Best in the In the Desert Vegas to Reno race crashing on a motorcycle. Blais would never walk again and would neeed a wheelchair for mobility. The schedule was packed with an entire day of Pro racing. Everything from Pro-4 to Class 11 to Ultra4 vehicles would have their shot at winning a large check and commemorative World Championship ring at the famed track.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe day\u2019s events got started with the Pro 4 class re-igniting the rivalry between CJ Greaves and RJ Anderson. The two battled door to door for several laps. RJ went on to claim the victory.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Next up was Pro-2. Cory Winner brought the momentum from a Saturday Championship Off Road series win into Sunday\u2019s race. Winner shot out to the front with an early lead and held off massive pressure behind from Jerett Brooks and the other highly competitive Pro-2 drivers. Winner would hold on for the win in a technical weekend podium sweep in the class.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nFollowing up on the second race of the weekend for the Class 11 bugs, Cisco Bio was back out front tackling the high-speed jumps of Crandon International Raceway. Bio added another World Championship ring to his growing collection. In the Ultra4 class, it looked as if Paul Wolff was going to grab another win just as he done the night before in the rocks. Unfortunately, bad luck struck. Wolff and Loren Healy made contact coming off a jump in the front stretch. Wolff did all he could to save it but was unsuccessful. Meantime out front, Vaughn Gittin Jr was on the move to claim a Crandon World Championship win.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nChad Rayford brought home his first ever World Championship win in the Pro-Spec class. In Pro-Lite, nobody had anything for the always consistent Kyle Greaves who celebrated with an oversize $5,000 check on the podium. Michael Meister came away with the Pro-Buggy win.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe countdown to the final event of the day- the Red Bull Cup race had arrived. It was the race all of the fans and drivers were waiting for. The race pits Pro-2 against Pro-4 trucks. It\u2019s an all-out knockout door banging battle. The winner takes home a huge check, custom shot gun and of course gets to add their name to the perpetual Cup that lives in Crandon. Every driver wants these accolades and only the best survives. The first green flag flew with Pro-2 rumbling around turn one. Keegan Kincaid had the holeshot. A massive crash by Myan Spacarelli would cause a full restart. Once again, the flag was thrown for Pro-2. Kincaid navigated through the chaos to get another holeshot. Just seconds later Pro-4 trucks came roaring around turn one. As the laps ticked down Keegan stayed on the gas as RJ Anderson began to hunt him down. Racers were on hand for autograph and photo opportunities. This year at Crandon also was one of the stops on the Kiss farewell tour. The legendary eighties band rocked the house in a massive concert put on by the Forest County Potawatomi at the track.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nSaturday\u2019s Pro-4 race was another round on the Championship Off Road Racing Series. The battle was between Greaves and RJ Anderson. The two have had a close rivalry at previous races. Greaves secured his sixth win moving him further ahead in the points standings over Jimmy Henderson.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nCory Winner\u2019s season is also coming together nicely. Winner who has been consistent jumped to an early lead keeping the rest of the field behind him. The track was near perfect. Fans packed the hillside for the final day of racing at the famous Upper Michigan track.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting races of the day was the Pro-4 class. CJ Greaves had the early lead with the rest of field roaring right behind him. Just after the mandatory caution, Jimmy Henderson came off a jump close enough to cause CJ to swerve into a guardrail. Henderson moved into the lead. Unfortunately, Henderson was forced into the hot pits allowing Adrian Cenni to take command of the race. Cenni drove his Pro-4 to his first 2023 win in the Championship Off Road Racing Series.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nThe Pro-2 class also put on another exciting race for the fans with tight door to door action. Points leader, Cory Winner had the lead until Mickey Thomas found enough speed to claim the win. Coming off the last round at Dirt City in Lena, Wisconsin over the weekend, consistent podiums were extremely critical for drivers.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe Pro-4 battle between Jimmy Henderson and CJ Greaves has been nothing short of epic. Both have battled door-to-door all season long. In Saturday\u2019s round, CJ claimed the top spot on the podium. Sunday\u2019s race saw CJ spending the entire time trying to catch Henderson with no way to pass him. Henderson grabbed a much-needed victory. CJ is only nineteen points ahead of Henderson going into the next rounds of racing at Bark River.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nCory Winner brought home his first win of the season on Saturday, which just happened to be his birthday. Sunday, all of the accolades went to Mickey Thomas. Winner has been consistent on the podium so far this season and sits just one single point ahead of Thomas. Ryan Beat is also seven points behind Thomas. Anderson started on the pole position in Pro-4 and led every lap wire to wire at ERX Motorpark in Elk River, Minnesota. Anderson was even able to withstand the pressure of CJ Greaves for the win.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"We don't do this all season, but we come out here and make it count,\" said Anderson. \"I'm really proud of my whole team for putting the effort in. It was a super fun race, and I'm just stoked.\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the Pro-Lite class, Kyle Greaves continued his success with a weekend sweep. Chad Rayford got redemption in Pro Spec securing his usual top podium spot. Cory Winner claimed the top spot on the podium in Pro-2. Winner has had podiums and has been close to winning, but the top of the box had eluded him until now. This time he led the race wire-wire, fighting off pressure from both Ryan Beat and Keegan Kincaid.
