The win marks the narrowest margin in Dakar history.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"It\u2019s been an amazing day! I just focused on every kilometer from the first to the last. I didn\u2019t think about the position or the result I just gave my 100 percent over the whole stage and tried to enjoy the day. The special was really fast and tricky, and so muddy \u2013 thankfully I didn\u2019t make any big mistakes, but it would have been easy to have an issue out there today. I have worked so hard for this. This year\u2019s rally has been one of the closest ever and there wasn\u2019t a single day where you could afford to ease off. I couldn\u2019t have done it without the support of my team, and all my family and friends. Benavides stopped to look after his teammate, Matthias Walkner who crashed hard. Officials gave Benavides the missed time back on his record. Walkner was airlifted to the hospital with pain in his lower back. Seconds separate Toby Price and Benavides in the overall rankings with just one stage to go before a winner of the rally is determined. Skyler Howes who still sits up front finished third. Toby Price helped close the gap slightly with a second-place finish in Stage 9.
