The event was held on the dunes and challenging sandy terrain. No other type of course on the entire Extreme E 2024 schedule is like the one run in Jeddah.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nWith multiple lead changes, Rosberg X Racing (RXR) secured the Round 1 victory. Drivers Johan Kristoffersson and Mikaela \u00c5hlin-Kottulinsky worked together to get the car to the front. The duo battled with the NEOM McLaren team, swapping places for the lead.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the second Round, Fraser McConnell and Laia Sanz came away with the victory for Team ASXE. The team struggled in Round 1 but got their redemption a day later. Extreme E is in its second season and the series was back in Saudi Arabia in Neom. Johan Kristoffersson and his new female teammate Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky took the first win of the season. Kristofferson and RXR are the defending champions.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nQualifying first on the grid was team X44. At the end of the first lap, team McLaren\u2019s Tanner Foust clipped the back of RXR\u2019s Odyssey 21 causing Foust to roll the car. A red flag was brought out. When the race resumed, officials started the cars out for a one-lap shootout, releasing them at intervals on how they entered the Switch Zone. X44\u2019s Christina Gutierrez was behind the wheel attempting to chase down Laia Sanz. While all of this was happening, Kristofferson took a wide line passing both for the lead and the win.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIt feels really good, but every week feels good. Every time we go for a race we have the aim to win, but the competition is so high this year, especially with McLaren coming in, which raises the bar even higher. We learned quite a lot last year, but now things are even tighter we\u2019ll have to work even harder. Joining Foust on the team is Emma Gilmour. Gilmour is an experienced world rally cross driver. The Fluro Papaya and Oceanic Blue on the Extreme E Odyssey car matches McLaren\u2019s theme on their Indy cars. The number 58 is a tribute to Bruce McLaren and the team will be allowed to use that race number as their inaugural entry into the series. Bruce used the number 58 in his first race in 1952, driving his father\u2019s Austin 7 at the Murwai Hillclimb in New Zealand.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cExtreme E is going to use every single driving skill I have, including stunt driving. There couldn\u2019t be a more challenging series when you think about the locations in which it races. I was a science major, so I can\u2019t wait to find out more about the legacy programme and see the travelling scientists in action. Emma has had a bit of a head start as she participated last season, so she knows more about what lies ahead but I\u2019m embracing the challenge of the unknown.
