Ricky Gutierrez struggled in the opening rounds at the Dirt City track back in June. This time around he had his truck dialed in. Ryan Beat was leading the race and was looking for another win until a tire let go forcing him into the hot pit. Ricky G seized the opportunity and took control of the field for his first win of the season. On Sunday, Cory Winner made it through all of the door-banging and contact to also secure his first win of the season.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_10179\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Jimmy Henderson secures his first win of the season at Dirt City. Photo: Mike Roth\/Champ Off Road[\/caption]\r\n\r\nIn Pro-4, Jimmy Henderson had Dirt City figured out holding off the field for a first win of the season. \"Lena and the fans here have been so good to us,\" said Henderson. I got my first off-road win here, and to be able to do it again is awesome. With all the changes we made to the team and the truck, it's all starting to come together.\" \u00a0Sunday, Adrian Cenni took over the top spot putting his bright orange truck on the podium.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_10180\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Trey Gibbs has a commanding lead in Pro-Lite after another weekend sweep. The race started out with CJ Greaves leading the race. CJ would pull into the hot pits twice with truck issues. Eventually he ended up parking there and becoming a spectator. The carnage in the class continued as Kyle Chaney\u2019s truck caught fire. The safety crew was there in seconds to extinguish the flames. Jimmy Henderson went to battle during the race but broke after heavy contact with Johnny Greaves. Adrian Cenni looked like he would grab another win as he took the lead. A shredded rear tire would close that door, putting a Cenni a lap down after the hot pits. Johnny Greaves rolled causing body panels to fly everywhere. Andrew Carlson became the race leader but crashed after hitting a tractor tire in the infield. That put rookie Kainan Baker in the lead. Baker lost the lead and soon it was the battle of Johnny\u2019s. Johnny Holtger and Johnny Greaves would race to the finish. Johnny Greaves took the victory with Holtger coming in second and Cenni third. \u201cI wasn\u2019t going to let you win one before I won one,\u201d Greaves told Holtger at the podium.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn Pro-2, Ryan Beat had all his ducks in a row. Beat was out front early in the race and dominated. Beat put several truck lengths on his fellow competitors to hold on for the win. Over in Pro-Lite, the race belonged to Trey Gibbs. In the Pro Side-by-Side class, Kainan Baker got passed by Kyle Chaney 100 yards from the finish line. Jeb Bootle secured a win in the Pro Stock side-by-side class.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nWith just a Sprinter Van and a trailer, Lorenzo Bonacci and his dad made the trek to Wisconsin all the way from Southern California to race a pro-buggy in the Championship Off Road racing series. Everyone was treated to door to door racing short course is known for.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the Pro-2 class, Ricky Gutierrez started \u00a0out front on the first lap. He held that position for several laps before Mickey Thomas came knocking on his back door. Gutierrez had steam coming out of his truck indicating things were getting hot. Literally! Gutierrez was able to get the truck cooled down temporarily during the mandatory caution. Thomas put the hammer down and the two drivers swapped lead positions bringing the crowd to their feet. The heat got the best of Gutierrez giving Thomas the lead and season opening win.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn Pro-4, the \u201cWildman\u201d Adrian Cenni put on a show for the fans. Swapping the lead back and forth with Jimmy Henderson, Cenni came out on top for a podium. Henderson and Johnny Greaves would make contact allowing Andrew Carlson to get by and claim the second podium spot.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nJohnny Holtger cruised to an easy Pro-Lite win for his first race of the season. American Outdoor Events originally came in and took the historic Crandon Spring Brush Run and Fall Labor Day weekend events.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe series will run 12-rounds in 2024 with stops at Dirt City in Lena, Wisconsin, Lions Roaring Raceway in Antigo, Wisconsin, ERX Motorpark in Elk River, Minnesota, Crandon International Raceway in Crandon, Wisconsin and a new track in Deadwood, South Dakota.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIt has been a rough couple of months, but hopefully all for a better future,\u201d said Carl Schubitzke, the president of the International Series of Champions. \u201cThere is no doubt that we are stronger with Crandon as a partner, and all of our events and partners benefit from the series racing at the Big House. Coming off the last round at Dirt City in Lena, Wisconsin over the weekend, consistent podiums were extremely critical for drivers.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe Pro-4 battle between Jimmy Henderson and CJ Greaves has been nothing short of epic. Both have battled door-to-door all season long. In Saturday\u2019s round, CJ claimed the top spot on the podium. Sunday\u2019s race saw CJ spending the entire time trying to catch Henderson with no way to pass him. Henderson grabbed a much-needed victory. CJ is only nineteen points ahead of Henderson going into the next rounds of racing at Bark River.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nCory Winner brought home his first win of the season on Saturday, which just happened to be his birthday. Sunday, all of the accolades went to Mickey Thomas. Winner has been consistent on the podium so far this season and sits just one single point ahead of Thomas. The tight, technical racing at Dirt City kept racers on their toes. With the halfway point over in the season, points were critical. No one knows that better than Kyle Leduc.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nLeduc finally saw two long-awaited wins this season in Pro 4. While Leduc has claimed spots on the podium this season, a win has eluded him until now. When the race got started, Leduc was outside of the top five. In the first lap, several trucks got collected in a crash. Leduc quickly moved into the top four. He sat patiently, moving around Adrian Cenni, then Scottie Lawrence right before the mandatory caution. This put him within striking distance of leader Cole Mamer. As the race restarted, Leduc jumped to the lead and stayed there for the victory. In Round 8, Leduc battled hard for his win. In the first turn, Leduc hit the wall sending him several spots back. CJ Greaves maintained the lead. On the second lap, Leduc once again hit the wall in the same spot, this time sitting on top of the concrete barrier. A caution would come out and Leduc was able to get himself back on the lead lap. Leduc then became a man on a mission, making immediate passes before catching up to CJ. Leduc made a pass on CJ after the leader went wide on a right turn. CJ would never be able to get his spot back. Leduc sits 31 points behind CJ Greaves in the standings.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nIn Pro 2, Mickey Thomas sat quietly while the leaders took themselves out. Thomas moved to the lead with Jerett Brooks hot on his tail. Thomas was able to hold off Brooks for the win. Doug Mittag is another driver without a win this season. That all changed in Round 8. Mittag found himself battling most of the race with Ricky Gutierrez. After the mandatory caution, Mittag put his head down and went to work checking out and cruising to his first victory of the season. Jerett Brooks continues to the hold down the points lead.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nPro Lite continues to be an extremely competitive class and the racing at Dirt City did not disappoint. Kyle Greaves and Brock Heger started out front, side by side. It was Greaves who would grab the early lead. Behind Heger and Greaves was Trey Gibbs. Gibbs wasted no time getting past the leaders but lost positions after spinning out. Heger and Greaves were back at it. Heger finally took the lead. Greaves slowed a bit but held of Gibbs to finish second. After learning some lessons in Round 7, Gibbs sat quietly for most of the race. Towards the very end he struck, passing the leaders and claiming a win. Championship Off-Road had plans to run rounds seven and eight\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 at Dirt City Motorplex in Lena, Wisconsin over the weekend. By Saturday afternoon, mother nature had other plans. Series officials were forced to delay pro racing until the weather let up and the track dried out enough. While the side-by-side races and Pro-Lite races were able to make it to the track, the decision was made to move Pro-2 and Pro-4 racing to early Sunday morning making for a full day for many.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nRacing at Dirt City is always tight and technical. This marks the second year in a row Championship Off-Road has visited this venue. He has however been consistently on the podium in either second or third. Greaves finally got his win this season in Round seven. The win finally marked Greaves\u2019 100th<\/sup> win in the class. Kyle Leduc was back out on top in Round eight. Andrew Carlson was out front when the race started. A rollover would shut down his hopes for a victory. Leduc cleanly moved through the field as the laps ticked away.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nRicky Gutierrez introduced a brand new Mittag-built truck this season. Gutierrez started out front in Round seven and never looked back, even with an extreme amount of pressure from both Cory Winner and Jerett Brooks. This is Ricky G\u2019s first career Pro-2 win. Later in the day, Ryan Beat took home his second career win in the Pro-2 class leading every lap of Round eight.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nOfficials were able to get laps completed in the Pro-Lite class before Saturday\u2019s rain delay. Madix Bailey was out front until the restart. Cole Mamer took that spot away. A mechanical failure would cause smoke to pour out of his truck with just three turns to go. Brock Heger took advantage of the situation to claim his sixth win of the season. In Round eight, Dillon Pointon finally got his first victory in the Pro-Lite class.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nEveryone is laser focused on points as there are only four rounds left in the season.
