In the first event, Sexton had the lead and cruised to an easy race win. In the second event, things got heated between Eli Tomac and Cooper Webb. An early mistake by Sexton would drop him down in the field. Jason Anderson found himself in the lead with Ken Roczen and Aaron Plessinger running third. Plessinger crashed and soon Tomac was on the move in a heated battle with Roczen. Tomac was able to get around Roczen and Anderson won the second main event. In the third and final main event, Anderson was back out front with the holeshot. Sexton found his way into second place hunting down Anderson. Cooper Webb was running third when Tomac charged hard for second. Soon Tomac had a rare crash, landing hard the on the tuffblox. Tomac recovered, but not before several riders passed him. Sexton was finally able to make a pass on Anderson for the lead and win, earning the overall position.

In the Western Regional Lites class, RJ Hampshire had the holeshot. Jett Lawrence was on the move, getting around second place Levi Kitchen and had his sights set on Hampshire. As Lawrence high-sided in a turn and went off his bike. It took Lawrence several laps to get back towards the front after he remounted only getting third. In the second main event, Lawrence and Hampshire tangled right out of the gate. Phil Nicoletti who had grabbed the holeshot was leading the race. When it was over, Stilez Robertson had moved to the front and won. With one final race to go, Lawrence was out front with a big holeshot. Levi Kitchen was running second. Kitchen needed a second-place finish to win overall. Kitchen stayed steady behind Lawrence grabbing his first triple crown win at Anaheim.

Photos courtesy of Feld Entertainment

The first triple crown of the 2023 Supercross season was held Saturday night at Anaheim stadium. Tomac made quick work getting the lead, leaving the battles behind him. Sexton worked his way up to Tomac’s rear tire, at one-point riding side-by-side. Sexton finally made a pass but quickly crashed on a downhill. Tomac regained the lead and never looked back. Sexton remounted and finished second with Jason Anderson third. In the second 450 moto, Savatgy again had the holeshot. Sexton and Ken Roczen battled for the other two positions. Both riders passed Savatgy to run first and second. Soon Tomac moved in for an easy pass on Roczen. The battle then focused on Sexton and Tomac. As time ticked away, Tomac made a clean move to gain the lead. It’s been an amazing ride and one that I wouldn’t change for anything as it’s gotten me to right here where I sit today! I’m forever grateful for opportunities from great individuals, companies and teams to have the best equipment and relationships to perform at the highest level and become a champion of the sport. I’ve achieved more than I ever imagined or even dreamed of as a child. There were plenty of lows in my day where I thought even a factory ride of any sort was out of the question let alone winning championships not only in the 250 class but in the 450 class as well. I’ve had an amazing run and even though it isn’t ending exactly how I would’ve wanted, I can say I’m content. I’ve poured my heart and soul into the last 16 years of professional racing as has my wife @brittney_osborne and even my kids. I’m so thankful we’ve gotten to experience this all as family and we will have those memories forever. For now, I’m taking some time to regroup, work on that honey-do list I’ve been neglecting for quite some time now and figure out what’s next! I’ll keep you guys updated. To the fans, Thank you so much for your support through my career!

Osborne won the AMA Pro Motocross Championship in 2020.
