[{"id":1027,"permalink":"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/2020\/07\/17\/lucas-oil-pro-motocross-announces-plan-for-nine-upcoming-rounds\/","title":"Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Announces Plan for Nine Upcoming Rounds","content":"The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is back on track for racing. The series announced a plan for nine rounds of racing, starting August 15 at Loretta Lynn\u2019s Ranch in Hurricane, Tennessee.\r\n\r\nThe season was supposed to start this month in Indiana, but rising COVID cases forced the cancellation of the season opener and subsequent rounds.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1029\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/RedBudd_web-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\r\n\r\nSocial distancing guidelines will be in place at all arounds including limited credential access to the paddock. Facemasks will be required, and handwashing stations will be installed. Some events will see limited spectators depending on local health department protocols.\r\n\r\n\u201cWhile we continue to navigate through these challenging and continuously evolving times of the coronavirus pandemic, we are confident that we\u2019ve developed the framework for a high-caliber championship schedule that can be successfully implemented,\u201d said Roy Janson, MX Sports Pro Racing Competition Director. \u201cAlthough we respect the unpredictability of scheduling any live events during these uncertain times and are sensitive to the hardships many people are going through, we remain committed to making our best effort to host the world\u2019s most prestigious motocross championship. Thanks to the tireless and cooperative efforts of our event organizers, competitors, sponsors and partners, not to mention the ongoing communication alongside local officials, we have an opportunity to prioritize the health and well-being of everyone. The season opener will now take place Saturday June 13<sup>th<\/sup> in Jacksonville, Florida at WW Ranch Motocross Park.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-639\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Lucas-Oil-Pro-Motocross-2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\r\n\r\n\u201cWhile the whole world is trying to cope with the ongoing global pandemic that is the COVID-19 coronavirus, we have diligently looked at the impending future of our own championship and the impact this will inevitably have on this annual summer tradition,\u201d said Davey Coombs, President of MX Sports Pro Racing. \u201cWhile the series has unfortunately already been affected\u00a0by this pandemic with the cancellation of American motocross\u2019 longest running event, the Hangtown Motocross Classic, we have developed a condensed and redesigned schedule for the remainder of the championship that will now start a little less than three months from now.\u201d\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nCoombs goes on to say postponing the start of the season will give the series time to obtain a clearer picture of the coronavirus pandemic and allow ample time for the riders, teams, partners and fans to plan accordingly.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nUnder the new schedule, the series will run 11 events.
