The injury also brings an early end to Barcia\u2019s first and only season with Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing. Barcia suffered the injury in a crash over the finish-line jump during the opening 450SMX moto at Dignity Health Sports Park. The 34-year-old continued for several laps but ultimately pulled off the track. Barcia and the team then elected to sit out the second moto to avoid further aggravating the injury.\r\n\r\nThe ankle strain ruled Barcia out of this weekend\u2019s SMX finale, which would have been his final race with the Ducati team. Barcia and Ducati will officially go their separate ways following the 2026 season. The move ends a relationship that began when Barcia joined Troy Lee Designs for the 2021 season with the factory GASGAS program. Although the manufacturer changed from GASGAS to Ducati for 2026, Barcia remained with the Troy Lee organization.\r\n\r\nInstead of finishing the season on the track, Barcia will now begin his search for a new opportunity for 2027. Ferrandis, 32, will make his final professional appearance September 26 at the SMX World Championship Final in Ridgedale, Missouri. The 2026 season has been his first with the Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing Team as the French manufacturer made its debut in the U.S. Supercross championship.\r\n\r\nThe Frenchman leaves the sport as a four-time AMA champion. Ferrandis captured back-to-back 250SX West titles in 2019 and 2020 before moving into the 450 class and winning the 2021 AMA Pro Motocross Championship in his first full season in the premier outdoor class.\r\n\r\nFerrandis spent much of his career with Star Racing Yamaha before moving to Phoenix Racing Honda and eventually joining Ducati for its inaugural U.S. racing program. He played an important role in developing the Ducati Desmo450 MX, bringing years of experience to the manufacturer's new motocross effort.\r\n\r\nFerrandis will get one final opportunity to add to his career r\u00e9sum\u00e9 this weekend when the gate drops on the SMX World Championship Final, where he will make his final professional start before stepping away from full-time competition.","excerpt":"
