On Saturday, defending champion CJ Greaves survived one of the wildest races of the season, overcoming multiple incidents and relentless track conditions to capture the Round 7 victory. Jimmy Henderson appeared poised to win before late-race misfortune opened the door for Greaves, who fought through the chaos to strengthen his championship position. Sunday's finale proved just as dramatic. Mickey Thomas battled Jimmy Henderson, Andrew Carlson and returning star RJ Anderson before surviving a stop-and-go penalty for speeding under yellow. Thomas quickly reclaimed the lead and held off Anderson over the closing laps to earn his third victory of the season and his second win in as many race weekends. Greaves salvaged third after an unscheduled stop, while Henderson's retirement allowed Greaves to take over the championship lead.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_15891\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Kyle Greaves won the PRO2 race on Saturday at ERX. Kyle Greaves captured Saturday's opener after staying out of trouble while several frontrunners encountered problems in the demanding conditions. His victory further tightened one of the closest championship battles in the series. Sunday belonged to Johnny Holtger, who stalked Greaves throughout the race before making a decisive pass with only a handful of corners remaining. Van Den Elzen's weekend sweep extended his winning streak to three races and significantly tightened the championship battle with points leader Nick Visser. PRO LITE saw two different winners across the weekend. Connor Barry claimed Saturday's victory after surviving a frantic battle, while Joey Maciosek led every lap on Sunday to secure his second win of the season despite constant pressure from Barry over the closing laps. In Pro-2, Keegan Kincaid went into the race with plenty of momentum until a stall during the mandatory caution allowed Ricky Gutierrez to get the lead and hold off the rest of the field. Sunday, Kincaid held onto the lead fighting off Gutierrez for the win. The series has had Crandon International Raceway as part of their schedule since the series started. American Outdoor Events originally came in and took the historic Crandon Spring Brush Run and Fall Labor Day weekend events.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe series will run 12-rounds in 2024 with stops at Dirt City in Lena, Wisconsin, Lions Roaring Raceway in Antigo, Wisconsin, ERX Motorpark in Elk River, Minnesota, Crandon International Raceway in Crandon, Wisconsin and a new track in Deadwood, South Dakota.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIt has been a rough couple of months, but hopefully all for a better future,\u201d said Carl Schubitzke, the president of the International Series of Champions. \u201cThere is no doubt that we are stronger with Crandon as a partner, and all of our events and partners benefit from the series racing at the Big House. Anderson started on the pole position in Pro-4 and led every lap wire to wire at ERX Motorpark in Elk River, Minnesota. Anderson was even able to withstand the pressure of CJ Greaves for the win.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"We don't do this all season, but we come out here and make it count,\" said Anderson. \"I'm really proud of my whole team for putting the effort in. It was a super fun race, and I'm just stoked.\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the Pro-Lite class, Kyle Greaves continued his success with a weekend sweep. ERX is the one of those rare tracks where racing was run on a Friday. In the highly competitive Pro-2 class, Johnny Holtger claimed his first win of the season. Holtger was unstoppable, leading the race from start to finish. Each race in the class has seen a different winner on the podium. Rounding out the other two podium spots were Ronnie Anderson and Mickey Thomas.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nKyle Greaves was back on the podium in Pro-Lite at ERX. It didn\u2019t come easy for him as he had to work to gain the lead. Greaves lost the lead a few times before finally making a pass stick on Trey Gibbs who finished second. Madix Bailey came away with a third-place position.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nGray Leadbetter shut down Chad Rayford\u2019s winning streak in the Pro Spec class. Rayford had a misfortune, rolling his truck after hitting a rut. Rayford was forced to pull off the track to assess the damage.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the Pro-4 class, the battle ensued between CJ Greaves and Andrew Carlson. While ERX is Carlson\u2019s home track, Greaves was able to take the lead on the final lap for the win. After the race, both drivers were docked three positions for unsafe speed during a caution. Adrian Cenni finished in the third spot but could ultimately be awarded the win. The tour will include seven stops, up one from the previous six venue schedule. The opening round will once again be held in Antigo, Wisconsin at the Roaring Lions Raceway. The series has held the opening round the last two years at the venue. The tour then moves to Crandon, Wisconsin for the Spring brush run events June 24th<\/sup>-25th<\/sup>.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn July, ERX Motorpark and Dirt City are back on the schedule. August includes Bark River. The series heads to Crandon for the traditional Labor Weekend races, but it doesn\u2019t end there. The season championship races will be held in an expanded seventh round at Mid America Outdoors in Jay, Oklahoma\u2013 a new venue for the series. A pro banquet and additional $50,000 purse will also take place during the weekend.\r\n\r\n\u201cOff-road racing has an extremely passionate base, led by both its competitors and its fans,\u201d said Carl Schubitzke. \u201cWe have been looking for ways to expand, while keeping our core events intact. The MidAmerica Outdoors group brings the same passion and dedication that we have grown accustomed to here in the Midwest.
