Photo: WSX[\/caption]\r\n\r\nJoey Savatgy won the Saturday\u2019s SuperPole but in the end the rider struggled for position. Tomac was resilent and staged a comeback, leading every lap and taking a victory in almost every single moto he raced for the rest of the weekend. The event venue was Marvel Stadium in Docklands. Roczen, who stood atop the points in the 2022 inaugural season was back to defend the 2023 title. Also securing a championship in the 250 class was Max Anstie.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8190\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/2023-WSX-Australia_Roczen-Kissing-Trophy-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nNineteen points separated the top four riders in the WSX class. Joey Savtagy came into the weekend as the points leader. Roczen however showed he was the strongest rider all night going 1-1-3. Roczen had the speed to carry him through the whoops and earned much needed points with the top finishes to move past Savatgy for the championship.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8191\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/2023-WSX-Australia_Anstie-Podium-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nIn the final SX2 event, Anstie dominated early leading the pack over the whoops section. Defending champion Shane McElrath continued to struggle this round when a tough block became lodged in his rear wheel causing him a DNF. That would erase any chances McElrath would have to locking in another WSX championship. Soon Roczen was at Friese\u2019s rear tire Unfortunately Friese went down and the lost the lead allowing Roczen to capitalize for the win. In the second main event, Friese was back out front. This time Friese was able to keep Roczen at bay and bring home a win. Roczen finished second. In the final main event Friese went down again. It appears the disagreement surrounds a stipulation in the contract that Roczen not compete in a series that is a direct competitor to the Outdoor Motocross and Supercross series.\r\n\r\nHere is the full statement from American Honda:\r\n\r\n\u201cWe genuinely enjoy working with Ken and have loved having him on our team for the past six years. We have a ton of respect for the speed and talent he regularly demonstrates on the track, and even more so for the heart and dedication he has shown in returning from severe setbacks. In light of recent comments, we felt the need to clarify a couple of points. We were looking forward to continuing with Ken in 2023, and we recently made him an offer of a contract extension. That offer has never been rescinded, but it was declined by Ken and his team. We feel it\u2019s important to support our racing partners and to treat all of our riders the same.
