The Honda HRC Progressive rider was the class of the field in the 450 Class, overcoming a stacked lineup that included defending outdoor champion Jett Lawrence, former MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado, and 450 rookie Haiden Deegan. One of the biggest storylines entering the opener was Deegan's highly anticipated debut in the premier division after graduating from the 250 Class. The Yamaha rider showed flashes of speed as he began his rookie campaign against the sport's top riders. Jett Lawrence returned to Pro Motocross with a sweep of both motos. Photo: MX Sports Pro Racing[\/caption]\r\n\r\nJett and Hunter Lawerence were back out front in Moto 1 of the 450 class. Jett is back on the track after an injury sidelined him during the Supercross season. Jett proved just how much he had recovered, going on to win the first moto with Cooper Webb finishing second and Hunter third. In the second moto, Hunter earned the holeshot. Jett wasted no time getting to the lead. As laps went on in the moto, Eli Tomac was running second applying pressure to Jett. Hymas went down midway through the moto allowing Haiden Deegan and Julien Beaumer to get by. Deegan remained out front all the way to the checkered flag. In the second moto, Tom Vialle and Beaumer were battling for the lead position. Tom Vialle was out front with both Levi Kitchen and Haiden Deegan battling for second. A track marker became lodged in Kitchen\u2019s boot allowing Deegan to get by. Deegan claimed the holeshot in Moto 2 and carried the momentum to win. Race officials determined Vialle violated rule 1.6.20 (Track Cuts\/Unfair Advantage) in Moto 1 and docked him accordingly. \r\n\r\nIn Moto 1 for the 450 class, Jett was out front an easy holeshot. Ferrandis was running second but had no way of catching Jett who was just too fast leading wire to wire. Chase Sexton was able to get around Ferrandis at the midway point and secure second place at the checkered flag. The second moto was a repeat of Jett\u2019s stellar performance. Ferrandis this time put a little more pressure on Jett. Chase Sexton quickly inserted himself into the battle and soon it was Jett vs. Sexton. \r\n\r\nIn the 250 class, the first Moto saw Jalek Swoll grab the holeshot. RJ Hampshire soon moved to the lead but went over the bike in a rut. Hampshire and Swoll were able to continue. Hampshire was able to come away with the moto win. In the second moto, Hunter Lawrence grabbed the holeshot and stayed out front winning wire to wire. \r\n\r\nThe Outdoor Motocross series came to end right where it started at Fox Raceway in Pala, California. Riders battled extreme high temperatures amid a Southern California heatwave. Chase Sexton had the holeshot in Moto 1 with Tomac in tow. Tomac made a mid-race pass and continued to extend his gap on Sexton. Christian Craig had the holeshot in the second moto. Tomac started deep in the top 10 but made quick work of the riders in front of him. Sexton made several mistakes that cost him multiple positions. By the halfway point, Jason Anderson was running up front. Tomac had finally caught up to him. Anderson made a mistake and Tomac capitalized on the moment. \r\n\r\nIn the 250 class, Jett Lawrence was out front with the early lead. Jo Shimoda kept the pressure on Jett. With two minutes to go, Hunter Lawrence made a pass on Shimoda. The Lawrence brothers finished with a one-two punch. Justin Cooper had the holeshot in the second moto. Shimoda was back at it, passing for the lead. \r\n\r\nThe first 450 moto started off with Ken Roczen leading the field at the holeshot. It wasn\u2019t long before Eli Tomac and Shan McElrath were all battling for the lead. Chase Sexton worked his way through all of them to lead and capture the first win of the season. In the second Moto, Sexton was back out front. Roczen did all he could to get the top spot rocketing back into the lead for the first half of the moto. \r\n\r\nIn the 250 class, Justin Cooper had the holeshot. Jett Lawrence wasn\u2019t far behind, making a pass for the lead and opening up a big gap that kept him out front. Lawrence\u2019s brother Hunter finished second. In Moto #2, Nick Romano earned the holeshot in his first pro race. Jett Lawrence quickly asserted his position in the lead and stayed there throughout the entire moto. This is a stacked class and it\u2019s been a long time since I\u2019ve been on the line with them but I\u2019m excited to be back on the gate. The opening round will be held May 28th<\/sup> which is Memorial Weekend. The series finishes September 3rd<\/sup>, Labor Day weekend at the same venue. \r\n\r\nIn Moto one, Ferrandis scored the win. A second-place finish in Moto two, was all Ferrandis needed to clinch the title. He becomes the first Frenchman in 30 years to win the championship. The 450 class has seen 26 different title holders in the last 50 years.
