Drivers in PRO2, PRO4, SxS, and buggy classes all entered knowing their result in San Bernardino could make or break their season. On the PRO2 side, Ken Roczen \u2014 the motocross and supercross star \u2014 made his debut in the series, adding fresh intrigue to an already stacked field. From the opening maneuvers to the final checkered flag, battles erupted at every turn. Tricks, air time, wheel-to-wheel action and some strategic gambles all played roles. In typical Glen Helen fashion, drivers had to manage dust, blind crests, and uneven terrain all while pushing for max speed.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_14195\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Ricky G had a successful weekend at Glen Helen in Pro2 claiming the top podium spot two days in a row. While Henderson swept the weekend on the podium, CJ Greaves secured his tenth Pro4 championship of the night. Over in Pro2, Ricky G also swept the weekend. Keegan Kincaid came out on top in the season points battle and clinched the championship. The points were tight between Connor Barry and Holtger. While Barry did make it to the podium, luck was Holtger\u2019s side as he came away with the ProLite Championship.\r\n\r\nWyatt Miller brought home the championship in ProSpec, Chaden Minder in ProBuggy and Owen VanEperen was awarded the championship in the ProSXS class.","excerpt":"

Warm weekend temperatures made for some great racing and near perfect track conditions.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe Modified Kart race saw some great battles between the up and coming youth of the sport. Talan Martin battled with ten of his closest competitors to come out and sweep the weekend. Dane Culver took second on the podium in Saturday\u2019s round 2. Ashton Williams collected that spot in Sunday\u2019s round 3.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nIn Pro Buggy, Matt Brister held the top podium spot during Round 2. Zach Drapkin finished second. In Round 3, Drapkin had all the power he needed to beat Brister taking over the top podium position. Johnny Holtger found the speed he needed with a battle in Pro-Lite, bringing home a Round 2 victory. Connor Barry fell short one spot finishing second. Barry wasn\u2019t done yet, in Sunday\u2019s Round 3, he answered back with a win swapping spots with Holtger. Kyle Knott came away with a pair of third place finishes.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe mini stock class consists of literally stock trucks that have been gutted and caged with minimal safety requirements including a fuel cell and window nets. Series Champions were crowned over the weekend at the final Glen Helen race.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nSeven points separated Christopher Polvoorde and Madix Bailey. Bailey remained in a good position for most of the weekend. Sunday, Bailey would start out front and lead the field. He did everything he could to hold a charge from Polvoorde. In an instant, three laps into the race, Bailey rolled on his side in a turn. A full-course caution was brought out and the track crew righted Bailey, so he could continue on the lead lap. A lap later, heartbreak struck again as his race would end after contact with other trucks. Christopher Polvoorde went on to win the race and season championship.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nOne of the most hotly contested battles right to the finish would be in Pro Buggy. It was an all-out track fight between Trevor Briska and Trey Gibbs. Both would charge extremely hard every lap right up until the final turn coming off a jump side-by-side. Briska got crossed up with Gibbs and ended up driving over him to finish the race. Gibbs was shut down. In a turn of events, race officials penalized Briska for rough driving and the championship was awarded to Gibbs.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nHusband and wife team of Jason and Corry Weller finished together first and second in points in the SR1 UTV class racing a pair of Can Ams. Dave Mason Jr cruised to an easy finish and championship in his eBay Motors backed Pro-2. Connor Barry locked up a modified kart championship. Both days included a full schedule of racing with full fields in many classes.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nPro-2 saw a much fuller field of trucks compared to the first event at Victorville. Mason Thomas was out front early in the race. He had a lot of pressure from RJ Anderson who made the pass for the lead and took the win. Ronnie Anderson stepped up behind the wheel of his brother RJ\u2019s 11-year old Pro-2 on Sunday. Ronnie Anderson was out front as soon as the green flag dropped and never looked back. A right rear flat tire would hurt Dave Mason Jr\u2019s chances for a win putting him one lap down. With Saturday\u2019s 3rd<\/sup> place podium, Mason Jr holds onto the Pro-2 season points lead.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn Pro-Lite, round 3, Jimmy Weitzel was out front holding off the rest of the field. Ronnie Anderson quickly moved up the field to the top spot. Christopher Polvoorde took second. Sunday\u2019s Round 4 saw Ronnie Anderson in third. Top honors went to Christopher Polvoorde. That is the question everyone is asking. Every series has postponed their events amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This week, San Bernardino County in California began easing some of the stay-at-home restrictions, allowing county parks, golf courses, lakes and hiking trails to reopen.\r\n\r\nMojave Off-Road Enthusiasts (MORE) has a scheduled race for May 16, 2020. The series is hoping enough of the restrictions will be lifted in the county to hold the McKenzie\u2019s 300. MORE announced they will be making changes to the race to comply with social distancing guidelines. Main pit will be extended to allow for more space between each team. Tech and Registration will be by appointment only and limited to the driver of record and 1 crew member. Paperwork can only be submitted online. Payments will also must be processed online only before the event. The race staging area will be closed. Only 1 pit crew member is allowed in the staging area. The drivers meeting will not be held in-person, instead broadcast over the radio.\r\n\r\nMORE says it is closely monitoring the San Bernardino County Health mandates and will provide further updates as the event gets closer. The race itself is largely held on lands management by the BLM which has not restricted access to open deserts during the pandemic.\r\n\r\nGlen Helen Raceway also announced the reopening of their motocross tracks. Racing events at the venue are still postponed, but practice days are allowed. There are new restrictions. No spectators, trainers and photographers are permitted. Attendees must wear face protection while on the grounds unless they are wearing a helmet. Attendees must park vehicles 10 feet apart and maintain the mandated 6-foot social distancing. The opening rounds of the season were originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, March 14th<\/sup> and 15th<\/sup>, 2020 at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California. The series says the weeklong forecast leading into the weekend is filled with rain that will present an array of potential challenges in putting on the event. The series was forced to make a proactive cancellation in the best interest of all parties.\r\n\r\n\u201cThis was not a decision that we came to lightly. We know that our competitors have put in months of preparation for this weekend, and we know our passionate fanbase has been eagerly awaiting the start of the 2020 season,\u201d explained Ritchie Lewis, Director of Race Operations. \u201cFrom the moment we became aware of the weather forecast and were subsequently forced to consider making such a difficult decision, we took every single element into consideration. Ultimately, the ability to host a successful event, both for our competitors and for our fans, was the driving force behind our decision. Given how persistent the precipitation is expected to be during the week of the race, it would present a significant challenge in getting the venue properly prepared for the weekend, and we believed it was in the best interest of the entire short course community to take a proactive approach to reschedule those rounds, with the intention of providing our competitors ample notice of the change.\u201d\r\n\r\nThe Series is expected to continue racing Saturday April 25th<\/sup> and Sunday April 26th<\/sup> in Chandler, Arizona.
