Coming off a strong run of form, <span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Hunter Lawrence<\/span> once again proved to be the rider to beat. Prado briefly led the opening laps, but the intensity of the pace and lingering effects from his earlier incident allowed Lawrence to capitalize and take control of the race. Behind them, the battle for the podium was fierce. <span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Ken Roczen<\/span> rode a calculated race to secure second, while <span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Eli Tomac<\/span> charged through the field to round out the top three. Deegan was deep in the field and Levi Kitchen was alongside Cole Davies for the lead. Deegan continued to move up in the field and eventually would take the lead in the final laps for what everyone thought would be the race win. At the conclusion of the race AMA officials reviewed video of Deegan making an illegal lane shift in the split section of the track. Footage showed Deegan aggressively getting into Shimoda sending both riders to the ground. Shimoda quickly recovered and rode away. Deegan wasn\u2019t so lucky. He walked off the track in pain. It would later be announced Deegan had a broken collarbone. Haiden Deegan, who had been leading the 250SMX points before St. Louis suffered a crash with Levi Kitchen on the opening lap of the second moto, damaging his front brake lever. With Shimoda\u2019s win and Deegan\u2019s setback, Shimoda now leads the points by 10 heading into the final round. When the gate dropped in moto 1, Justin Cooper had the holeshot. It wasn\u2019t long before Eli Tomac, Jett Lawrence and Aaron Plessinger were up front. In the final five minutes of the race, Tomac got on the gas and closed in on Plessinger who had the lead. Tomac pushed ahead to win the moto. In the second moto, Cooper Webb grabbed the holeshot. Jett Lawrence wasted no time taking over the lead.
