[{"id":16580,"permalink":"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/2026\/10\/30\/can-am-unveils-defender-recovery-rig-for-glamis-halloween-weekend\/","title":"Can-Am Unveils Defender Recovery Rig for Glamis Halloween Weekend","content":"Can-Am is bringing a new level of trail support to the Imperial Sand Dunes, unveiling a custom Defender Recovery Rig designed to keep off-roaders moving during the massive Halloween weekend gathering at Glamis. Built on a heavy-duty Can-Am Defender 6x6 Limited, the purpose-built recovery vehicle combines a mobile mechanical garage, recovery rig and communications hub. The rig will operate throughout Glamis, including Oldsmobile Hill, Old Wash Road, Osborne Overlook and Competition Hill, providing complimentary support regardless of what brand of off-road vehicle riders are driving.\r\n\r\nThe Defender 6x6's six-foot conversion cargo bed and 3,000-pound towing capacity allow Can-Am to carry an extensive collection of recovery equipment, tools, replacement parts and supplies. The rig features Can-Am accessories including a Kinetic Recovery Kit, LinQ racks and cargo boxes, along with Makita tools and components from Sandcraft and Metal FX. Among the recovery rig's key features are high-capacity front and rear winches, heavy-duty snatch blocks and kinetic recovery ropes designed to recover rolled side-by-sides and tow disabled machines through deep sand.\r\n\r\nCan-Am has also equipped the rig with B.U.D.S. 3, BRP's diagnostic software, allowing the Mobile Pit Crew to diagnose EFI fault codes, sensors and other vehicle health issues in the field. A dedicated tire and wheel station includes a high-CFM air compressor, high-volume air storage tank, bead-lock tools and heavy-duty plug kits. The Recovery Rig also brings communications capabilities to remote areas of the dunes. A roof-mounted Starlink terminal provides an open mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, giving stranded riders the ability to contact their camps, access trail maps or coordinate emergency response in areas with limited or no cellular service.\r\n\r\nThe rig is stocked with quick-swap trail parts and fluids, including Rotax drive belts, radius rods, tie rods, A-arms, radiator patch kits and coolant.
