[{"id":8784,"permalink":"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/2024\/02\/02\/kyle-chaney-wins-fourth-consecutive-king-of-the-hammers-utv-championship\/","title":"Kyle Chaney Wins Fourth Consecutive King of the Hammers UTV Championship","content":"Kyle Chaney rolled the dice this week at the King of the Hammers UTV Championship and came away with his fourth consecutive overall win. Chaney, who was the top qualifier absolutely sent his Can-AM UTV at full speed down backdoor during the qualifying session. Chaney then started on the pole position rocketing out of Hammertown, mashing through the desert loop. Chaney continued to roll the dice by changing to a different tire compound for the rock sections. He almost lost his bet as he ended up getting a flat. The clock continued to tick as he and his co-driver Cash LeCroy struggled to get the tire changed. Fortunately, Chaney had built up enough of a gap from the rest of the field. The duo got moving again blowing through the rock sections for an overall course finish of just under four and half hours.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_8786\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Photo: Paolo Baraldi[\/caption]\r\n\r\nComing in second overall was Todd Beckett. Beckett raced against Chaney in the Pro Mod UTV class driving a Can-Am giving the UTV brand a one-two punch on the podium. Blake Wilkey qualified third behind lead Donny Donovan. Wilkey wasted zero time sprinting to the front of the pack. Just a couple laps in, a yellow flag was thrown after a rollover on-course.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe bugs were restacked, given the green and Wilkey took it all the way to the finish, challenged by only one car during the 20-lap event. Bryce Menzies was on the move with a huge lead in the field. 13 trucks remained after the morning qualifying prologue that took the racers 20 miles into the desert.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nOnce the race got underway, Menzies lead the field in his all-wheel drive trophy truck. At one point Andy McMillin was 20 seconds behind Menzies, but a mistake would cause McMillin to roll the truck. Enough damage was sustained to end his run. Menzies continued to stretch his lead out rocketing to the finish line. Menzies would take home a $100,000 winner take-all check for his efforts.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cThis course was so gnarly, there were so many rocks. What an unreal day. $100 grand baby,\u201d said Menzies on the podium.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n2019 winner Luke McMillin finished in second place. McMillin was in a 2-wheel drive truck.
