The Team Honda HRC rider controlled the action from the drop of the gate, leading every lap of both motos on his way to a perfect 1-1 score. The victory marked Lawrence's second consecutive overall win to open the outdoor season and further strengthened his position atop the championship standings. In the 250 Class, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Levi Kitchen emerged victorious after posting a pair of second-place moto finishes. Kitchen capitalized on mistakes and misfortune among several title contenders to claim his first overall victory of the 2026 season. Championship leader Seth Hammaker battled through adversity to finish second overall, while Honda HRC's Jo Shimoda rounded out the podium in third. The Hangtown event featured intense racing throughout the 250 field, with several lead changes and dramatic moments impacting the overall results.<\/p>\r\nWith two rounds complete, both championship battles remain highly competitive as the Pro Motocross Championship heads to Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Colorado for Round 3 next weekend.","excerpt":"

When the gate dropped in moto 1, Justin Cooper had the holeshot. It wasn\u2019t long before Eli Tomac, Jett Lawrence and Aaron Plessinger were up front. In the final five minutes of the race, Tomac got on the gas and closed in on Plessinger who had the lead. Tomac pushed ahead to win the moto. In the second moto, Cooper Webb grabbed the holeshot. Jett Lawrence wasted no time taking over the lead. As Jett began to run away with the lead, a hard crash would send the defending champion to the ground and ultimately to the mechanics area to have his bike fixed. A perfect season was immediately out of the question and the winning streak was over. Hunter took over the lead, but it was Sexton who ultimately won the moto.\r\n\r\nIn the second moto, Justin Cooper was out front early. Jett tried to get to the lead but began to fade towards mid-pack. \r\n\r\nIn the 450 class, rookie Jett Lawrence polished his newly mounted red plate on his Honda and went out in the first moto to dominate the race. In the second moto, Dylan Ferrandis was out front with the holeshot, but that was very short lived as Jett stormed to the front. The only one to chase Jett down was Cooper Webb. Jett continued each lap to extend his lead winning the second moto and going 1-1 for the overall win.\r\n\r\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/ProMX2023_250-Podium-1024x683.jpg\")
\r\n\r\nOver in the 250 class, Hunter was writing the same story. Haiden Deegan took the lead on the opening lap. Hunter was picking off riders after starting deep in the top 10 field. Hunter was only able to make it to third with Deegan taking the win. In the second moto, Justin Cooper had the holeshot. Hunter quickly moved the lead and stayed there to win the moto. \r\n\r\nIt wasn\u2019t easy for Lawrence who fought all season. He crashed on the opening lap and quickly remounted the bike. He had to finish the moto, or his championship hopes would be lost. Lawrence managed to finish in 8th<\/sup>. That gave him an 11-point lead over Cooper. Lawrence needed a 7th<\/sup> place finish or better in the second moto to clinch the title. Lawrence went down again after the second moto after chasing down Max Vohland. Up front Cooper was in the lead. Lawrence regained composure and began working his way up.
