Photo: Align Meida.[\/caption]\r\n\r\nIn the premier moto (MXGP + MX2), Australia\u2019s Jett Lawrence powered to victory, crossing the line ahead of Lucas Coenen and Tim Gajser\r\nFollowing them were Eli Tomac in 4th and Romain Febvre in 5th, rounding out the top five.\r\n\r\nTeam USA entered the event under a cloud of uncertainty. Chase Sexton was forced to withdraw after suffering a concussion and shoulder injury in the SuperMotocross finale. Eli Tomac has just one single point ahead of Chase Sexton with two motos left before a championship trophy is awarded at the Pala Championship weekend.\r\n\r\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/22Ironman_Sexton-1024x683.jpg\")
\r\n\r\nIn the first moto at Ironman, Christian Craig snagged the holeshot. Ken Roczen made a quick pass for an early lead. Eli Tomac found himself running second, soon getting around Roczen for the lead. As the minutes of the moto ticked down, Chase Sexton had made it to second and was chasing down Tomac. Sexton eventually made a pass for the lead, but Tomac stole it back, winning the moto. In the second moto, Sexton shot out of the gate and took the holeshot. Roczen passed Sexton for the lead. Sexton wasn\u2019t having any of it and regained his lead spot. Tomac got by Roczen and began chasing down Sexton. The two battled throughout the moto, but Tomac was never able to get the lead. Sexton came away with the moto win. Both riders came away with the tie.\r\n\r\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/22Ironman_JettLawrence-1024x683.jpg\")
\r\n\r\nIn the 250 class, Nate Thrasher was out front with the holeshot in the first moto. Halfway through the moto, Jett Lawrence made a pass for the lead. Lawrence went on to win the moto. In the second 250 event, Justin Cooper took his turn out front. Jo Shimoda took over after the first lap. Shimoda remained out front for the rest of the moto to take a win. Roeseler will campaign the number 43 Baja Jerky Trophy Truck. Roeseler has been racing in Baja since his first finish in 1972.\r\n\r\n\u201cI am thrilled to be taking part in the 54th Baja 1000,\u201d said Larry Roeseler. \u201cI finished my first Baja race in 1972 and it is such an honor to continue pursuing my passion after all these years. On behalf of the Baja Jerky Racing Team, I want to thank all of our fans for the support going into this race. Baja, Mexico holds such a special place in my heart and is the inspiration behind Baja Jerky and the Baja Jerky Racing Team. This race can be grueling and attempting to solo it is no easy task, but with the assistance of my co-driver and navigator Eric Brandt, I am up for the challenge!\u201d\r\n\r\nRoeseler won the SCORE Baja 500 this year after both McMillin\u2019s received penalties.
