Racers locking up championships for 2021 in the SCORE World Desert Championship include Rob MacCachren. MacCachren\u2019s win with Luke McMillin at the Baja 1000 cemented the championship for Rob. Ironically, Luke McMillin is the defending champion this year in Trophy Truck. His disqualification at the Baja 500 moved Rob closer to the top. The duo decided to campaign MacCachren\u2019s Trophy Truck race number and use him as driver of record to win points for the championship. MacCachren has four season point championships in the SCORE Trophy Truck division.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nJason McNeil may not have won the SCORE Baja 1000, but he did secure the points championship. McNeil had back to back wins in the Baja 500 and Baja 400 this year in the Trophy Spec division. In addition to winning his class championship, McNeil also secures the overall truck point championship.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nOther class winners include Cody Parkhouse who secured the Class 1 championship. Parkhouse won the SCORE Baja 400. He struggled, unable to finish the Baja 500. With a second-place finish during the Baja 1000, Parkhouse was able to lock up the class championship. Phil Blurton will run the number one plate next year in the Pro UTV Forced Induction class after winning the championship this year.","excerpt":"

Menzies started out front after qualifying a hundredth of second in front of Luke McMillin. Menzies was careful not to get any penalties, running the course in eight hours, twenty-six minutes, 59 seconds. Luke McMillin finished in second place, three minutes behind Menzies.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cWe came away from San Felipe with a win and then we had some issues while we were leading the SCORE Baja 500.\u00a0 We have qualified both times this year and our game plan was to play it smart. We put a little gap on Luke (McMillin) and I just wanted to keep it there all day, but then towards the finish I started making small mistakes. I don\u2019t know what was going on; I just wasn\u2019t in it, and he started catching me. I actually got stuck in a really tight section and had to back up. When you back up a four-wheel drive vehicle, it only goes into two-wheel drive, so I almost got stuck and I started to panic.\u00a0 But my main man over here (navigator Willie Valdez Jr) called every single corner, every single note, really coaching me and helped me get to the finish line.\u00a0 This one was technical. A lot of turns, a lot of technical sections, I really had to pay attention to every single corner.\u00a0 My hats off to my team,\u201d said Bryce Menzies at the finish line.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nJason McNeil scored another win in the spec truck class and Cody Parkhouse came away with a Class 1 win. Luke finished the race physically four seconds ahead of cousin Andy. Luke received a disqualification from the race after making contact with a spectator\u2019s campsite while veering off course. Andy was penalized 35 minutes for an unsafe pass in a speed control zone. SCORE appreciates the diligent work of the CRB in assisting in adjudicating these more challenging situations that can arise during one of our SCORE Baja races,\u201d said Jose A. Grijalva, SCORE President and Race Director. \u201cSCORE will continue to review and enforce the rules that are designed to keep racers, crews and spectators all safe.\u201d\r\n\u201cUnfortunately, these two special decisions have impacted two of the most prominent and well-respected racers in the entire sport of desert racing and this is an example of the transparency SCORE has with the help of the CRB in these special situations.\u201d\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe penalties opened the door for 64-year old Larry Roeseler to take the win. Roeseler had a total time on course of 10 hours and 63 minutes. Roeseler has twelve Baja 500 wins dating back to 1972.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nJason McNeil finished first in the Trophy Truck spec class and Broc Dickerson was the winner in Class 1. Other wins went to Jeff Proctor driving a Honda Ridgeline in Class 7 and Branden Sims in the forced induction UTV class.
