Crandon was the sixth and final stop on the twelve-round series.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nJerett Brooks may not have won the race, but he had enough points with a podium finish to secure his first championship with the series in Pro-2. A single point Kyle Greaves and Brock Heger in Pro-Lite. Each Labor Day weekend the best Short Course racers in the world converge on the small town of Crandon Wisconsin for a weekend of action-packed racing. Traditions are as important to the racers here as they are to the spectators and fans who come from all over to watch the races. Every year, a parade in downtown Crandon kicks off the weekend of racing. It\u2019s the opportunity for fans to get a photo and autograph with their favorite driver. Fans get to see race vehicles up close.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nOpening ceremonies kicked off with 12 sportsman classes. The track action continued all the way into nightfall, ending with the Class 11 Baja Bugs. The bugs were back at Crandon for second year and they were once again a major hit. This year pro-drivers paired up with several of the bug drivers. On the very first lap after the famous land rush start one of the bugs would end up on its lid, temporarily shutting down the race. Out popped a dejected Keegan Kincaid. Kincaid was in the passenger seat for this one and never would get the chance to drive. Once the track was cleared, the Volkswagen powered-bugs got back underway. A mandatory caution was thrown for a driver change. There were several scenarios that had to play out for some of the drivers to clinch the title.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nThe Pro-2 class was the major one. Jerett Brooks had a seventeen-point lead over Corey Winner coming into Crandon. Brooks needed to finish 8th<\/sup> or better to clinch the title. Winner needed 9 spots, plus a finish no more than three spots behind Keegan Kincaid. Little did anyone know; a perfect storm was brewing. Kincaid was out front leading the field for several laps. Jerett Brooks was third, battling with Corey Winner. Then the unthinkable happened creating a perfect storm of scenarios. A power steering belt snapped shutting his race down. He stalled in blind corner causing several trucks to crash into him. When the race restarted, Kincaid continued to lead the race keeping Winner just out of reach of the podium. When the dust settled, Kincaid won the Championship by one point, Winner lost by 1 point and oddly enough, Brooks also lost by 1 point.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nOver in Pro-4, Kyle Leduc would pull off the track early ending his hopes for a championship. CJ Greaves had the point lead coming into this weekend. He played it extremely safe staying out of trouble on the track while Johnny Greaves went full throttle for the lead and the race win.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe ProLite championship was already decided before racing even began. Brock Heger locked clinched the series in Bark River. Heger\u2019s day continued to get better as he also clinched a Pro Stock side-by-side championship besting CJ Greaves. Cole Mamer secured his second win of the season at Crandon.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\u00a0 \"\"\r\n\r\nMichael Meister won the Superbuggy Championship. All will need successful finishes at Crandon to lock up the season championship.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nSeveral racers saw a successful weekend at Bark River Raceway in Bark River, Michigan. CJ Greaves swept the weekend in Pro-4. He sits 25 points over Kyle Leduc. Keegan Kincaid secured a Pro-2 win on Saturday but Sunday\u2019s story was all about Jerett Brooks as he earned another podium and stretched out his points lead.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nOver in Pro-Lite, Cole Mamer finally saw his first win of the season. Mamer has struggled for several rounds to earn the top spot on the podium. Sunday, Brock Heger fought his way to the front for the victory. Championship Off Road held Rounds 3 & 4 at Crandon.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nKyle Leduc finally saw some success this season at Crandon. Leduc swept the weekend in Pro-4. He still sits 11 points behind CJ Greaves. Both CJ and Johnny held the second and third spots on the podium in Rounds 3 & 4. Ryan Beat also saw major success at Crandon. He finally broke Keegan Kincaid\u2019s winning streak. Kincaid swept both Antigo rounds and also won Round 3 at Crandon. But in Round 4 the tables turned. Beat grabbed the holeshot and never looked back. Kincaid was able to manage a fourth-place finish.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nOver in Pro-Lite, Kyle Greaves was back on the podium in winning form even with major pressure from Brock Heger who swept the Antigo rounds. In Sunday\u2019s Round 3, Greaves wasn\u2019t so lucky as Heger reclaimed the top spot. Mamer finished second with Greaves finishing third. Greaves continues to trail Heger in the points standings.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nOne of the longstanding traditions at Crandon is the \u201cCup Race.\u201d Held in the spring and fall, the race pits Pro-4 against Pro-2. Points championships came down to the final two rounds.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nEliot Watson\u2019s weekend sweeps and eight consecutive wins earned him enough points to win the championship. Watson was out front in both rounds ahead of second place Matt Brister. In Round 9, Trey Gibbs was able to get around Matt Brister for a second-place podium finish.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nBrock Heger was out front in Pro-Lite in Round 9. Heger won the race wire to wire. Ronnie Anderson finished second with Cole Mamer finishing third. In Round 10, Heger had enough points for the championship, all he had to do was start the race and save the truck. Ronnie Anderson was out front. After several cautions, the dust settled, and Christopher Polvoorde made it to the lead and took the win.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nThe tightest points battle was in the Pro-2 class. Jerett Brooks came into the final rounds with the points lead. Doug Mittag started Round 9 out front. It wasn\u2019t long before Brooks came from behind to take the lead. Ryan Beat was able to get around Mittag for second. Mittag finished third. In Round 10, Cory Winner was the polesitter. Winner was quickly passed by Trevor Leighton who led several laps. Leighton spun out and got passed by several trucks. It wouldn\u2019t be long before Jerett Brooks found his way to the front. Doug Mittag wasn\u2019t having any of it and drove his way right to the front and stayed there for the finish. Ryan Beat took another second-place finish. Brooks ended up third. The event was held without spectators. Strict COVID protocols were required for the series to host the event which included social distancing and mandatory face masks at the venue.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nIn ProBuggy, Elliot Watson swept the weekend winning all three rounds. Watson now has six consecutive wins under his belt. Matt Brister was out front but could not hold off the faster Watson. In both Round 6 and 7, Brister would have flat tire issues.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nBrock Heger won both rounds 6 & 7. Christopher Polvoorde was out front early in Round 6, but a broken throttle cable would sideline his efforts. In Round 7, Heger held off Cole Mamer for the win, but in Round 8, it was Mamer who finally took the victory.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nMyles Cheek consistently swept the weekend in Production UTV class.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nJerett Brooks took a Round 6 win leading the race wire to wire. The series which was formed in early 2020 hosted their points rounds Saturday. The race is part of a bigger weekend of events that are held annually in Crandon.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nEvents kicked off with a private VIP party hosted at Jamey Flannery\u2019s house on the lake. Country recording artist Joe Nichols performed for attendees. The annual parade was held in downtown Crandon.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nSportsman races were held Friday afternoon at the track. Saturday, the Pro racers finally had their chance get on the track. Cole Mamer won in Pro-Light, pretty much checking out in the lead. Chad Rayford found himself in second on the podium.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nTruck counts were up this year at Crandon. 19 Pro-2\u2019s showed up to race. There was plenty of the usual door banging and carnage. Jerett Brooks won the top spot on the podium.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nPro-4 was the most eventful race of the day. Jamey Flannery got underneath Bryce Menzies sending him flying in the air in a spectacular crash. A few laps later, Johnny Greaves took the lead away from Kyle Leduc. Greaves lost control just before turn one, flying through the air in a heart-stopping crash. The safety team immediately got to him and it was determined Greaves would be ok. The race finally resumed, and Kyle Leduc took the win.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nIn the final event of the night, Ultra-4 cars raced as part of their own points series. Bailey Cole sent his car flying into a pond, completely submerging the vehicle. Loren Healy would end up winning the race.","excerpt":"

After several postponements, cancellations and rescheduling of venues, the series hosted opening rounds at Glen Helen Raceway in Southern California. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, fans were not allowed to attend the event. The racing however, was still exciting.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nSaturday\u2019s Round 1 Pro Buggy race saw Matt Brister secure his first national podium. Darren Hardesty and Eliot Watson took second and third. Cameron Steele was also back behind the wheel in the buggy class mixing it up with the seasoned Pro Buggy stars. During Sunday\u2019s Round 2 Pro Buggy race, Trey Gibbs took top honors with Eliot Watson in second and Dale Ebberts in third.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the Pro-Lite class, Cole Mamer was the top the qualifier in Round 1. When the dust settled, Christopher Polovoorde took the top spot on the podium. Ronnie Anderson took second and Maddix Bailey third. Round 2, Cole Mamer finally made it to the top spot with Brock Heger in second and Madix Bailey back in the third spot.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nThe best battles of the weekend happened in the Pro-2 class. Jerett Brooks was the top qualifier in Saturday\u2019s Round 1. The inversion found Ricky Gutierrez on the front row. As the green flag dropped, there was plenty of the usual door banging. Jerett Brooks took the victory, Ricky Gutierrez held onto second holding off Brian Deegan who was hot on his heels in the last turn, all the way to the finish line. Round 2, the gloves came off. Much more contact between trucks. Ryan Beat led several laps before a flat tire would force him into the hot pits. Beat managed to stay on the lead lap, while several others would not be so lucky.
