The races were a battle to the very end with a possible dispute on the podium. Eli Tomac was officially crowned the overall champion with Ken Roczen and Joey Savtagy falling in right behind.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_10898\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]<img class=\"size-large wp-image-10898\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/2024-WSX-Podium-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/> Eli Tomac celebrates on the podium at the opening round of the WSX series in Canada. Photo: WSX[\/caption]\r\n\r\nThe weekend set-up a very tight title fight for upcoming rounds. \u201cIt was a fantastic evening of racing. Kenny rode well in the first two races, and we were battling out there. I found my rhythm in the last couple of races, and everything just clicked. The energy from the Vancouver crowd was incredible, and I\u2019m looking forward to the next round in Perth,\u201d said Tomac. Joey Savatgy will NOT be on the starting gate. Triumph Racing announced it has parted ways with Joey Savatgy.\r\n\r\nA statement from triumph read: Despite extensive efforts to restore Joey\u2019s 250SX eligibility, it was recently confirmed the Georgia native would be unable to line-up for the 2025 250SX campaign. The statement from Triumph goes on to thank Savatgy for joining the team and everything he has done for them during the season.\r\n\r\nBoth teams have reportedly agreed it was best for Savatgy to continue his career with another team. Savtagy finished the Pro Motocross series 12<sup>th<\/sup> in the final standings. Savatgy had originally signed a two-year deal with Triumph. The event venue was Marvel Stadium in Docklands. Roczen, who stood atop the points in the 2022 inaugural season was back to defend the 2023 title. Also securing a championship in the 250 class was Max Anstie.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8190\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/2023-WSX-Australia_Roczen-Kissing-Trophy-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nNineteen points separated the top four riders in the WSX class. Joey Savtagy came into the weekend as the points leader. Roczen however showed he was the strongest rider all night going 1-1-3. Roczen had the speed to carry him through the whoops and earned much needed points with the top finishes to move past Savatgy for the championship.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8191\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/2023-WSX-Australia_Anstie-Podium-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nIn the final SX2 event, Anstie dominated early leading the pack over the whoops section. Defending champion Shane McElrath continued to struggle this round when a tough block became lodged in his rear wheel causing him a DNF. That would erase any chances McElrath would have to locking in another WSX championship. The series landed at Eithad Arena in Yas Island for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The main event was full of twists, turns and high energy.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8084\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/WSX23_AbuDhabi_Savatgy-Podium-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nJoey Savatgy emerged with the victory after a 1-4-2 performance. On Savatgy\u2019s heels was Dean Wilson who secured second place in the standings. Meantime, defending champion Ken Roczen seemed to struggle as he started in the back row of all three final events.
