Chaney is the newly crowned King after beating all of the big fire breathing Ultra4 cars in the rock sections in his CanAm Maverick side-by-side. The win is huge and historic as a UTV has never won the premiere class at the Hammers and Chaney has never won a King title.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_11987\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]<img class=\"size-large wp-image-11987\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/KOH-2025-Race-of-Kings_Kyle-Chaney-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/> Kyle Chaney secured a historic win at the Race of Kings beating out all of the Ultra4 cars to victory in a CanAm UTV.[\/caption]\r\n\r\n\u201cWe had a good car last year, this year we put a lot of effort into this race. To come out here and win, it was awesome,\u201d said Chaney. Co-driver Terry Madden helped Chaney out on the rock trails. Both have extensive experience at the Hammers. Like Chaney, Madden has never gotten a win in the King of the Hammers premiere class. Paul Wolff started out front after securing the top qualifying spot. Loren Healy quickly took command of the race in the desert loop but struggled when he got to Jack Hammer. Wolff re-took the lead as Healy went down with mechanical issues and was forced to withdraw. Former king JP Gomez found himself in the lead on lap 3 but was passed by Josh Blyler. JP then had to stop and get out to change a tire. Up ahead Blyler was down with mechanical issues. Both he and his co-driver were out of the car attempting repairs. As both of those drivers were stopped on course near Kings Vito, Chaney took over the lead and never looked back. Gomez followed up last year\u2019s King of the Hammers win with another victory adding him to the list of two-time Kings at the toughest race in the world.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-6574\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/2023KOH_RaceofKings_Gomez-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-6576\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/2023KOH_RaceofKings_JasonScherer-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nTwo days earlier, Paul Wolff topped qualifying for the Race of Kings, the final event held during King of the Hammers for the Unlimited horse-power 4400 class. Jason Scherer who qualified second, held the lead for the entire 3-lap race. Gomez qualified fourth and kept Scherer in his sights. It was the last lap just miles from the finish that Gomez knew he had Scherer beat on corrected time.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-6575\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/2023KOH_RaceofKings_GomezFront-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\n\u201cI am super excited; my team did a lot of hard work. We came out here and did our homework and re-did our homework,\u201d said Gomez after celebrating on stage.
