Slawson a former KOH King, raced his own Bomber Fabrication built car for a successful day on the Hammers trails in the Branik Motorsports Legends class. Bailey Cole came away with top honors, edging out the Funhaver team of Vaughn Gittin Jr and Loren Healy. Both Healy and Vaughn Gittin will return to the rocks for the Race of Kings. Chaney, who was the top qualifier absolutely sent his Can-AM UTV at full speed down backdoor during the qualifying session. Chaney then started on the pole position rocketing out of Hammertown, mashing through the desert loop. Chaney continued to roll the dice by changing to a different tire compound for the rock sections. He almost lost his bet as he ended up getting a flat. The clock continued to tick as he and his co-driver Cash LeCroy struggled to get the tire changed. Fortunately, Chaney had built up enough of a gap from the rest of the field. The duo got moving again blowing through the rock sections for an overall course finish of just under four and half hours.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_8786\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Photo: Paolo Baraldi[\/caption]\r\n\r\nComing in second overall was Todd Beckett. The qualifying course took the competitors out of Hammertown, up through Resolution and down backdoor. Cade Rodd set the fastest qualifying time.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nEvery year the top King of the Hammers racers qualify during an hour-long session known as \u201cPower Hour.\u201d\u00a0 Paul Wolff blew through backdoor during his session to qualify second overall. Wolff blew a transmission at the finish line sending the team to immediately go fix the problem and get the car ready for Saturday\u2019s race. Loren Healy navigated his Fun Haver Ford Bronco through the rock sections for a third overall qualifying spot. Healy has previously won the King of the Hammers and is a fan favorite for a win in the Race of Kings. The event spans over a couple of weeks beginning January 18th<\/sup> with the main gates opening to Hammertown in Johnson Valley, California. The event ends Saturday February 3rd<\/sup> with the Race of Kings.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe King of the Motos returns to King of the Hammers again in 2024. There will be two days of moto racing up some of the gnarliest rock faces at the Hammers. The very next weekend, desert cars take to the Hammers with two days of racing. The popular Class 11 showdown will also take place Saturday night, January 27th<\/sup>.
