All attention was on two simultaneous races Saturday afternoon. The \u201cTerraCrew\u201d 1450 trucks and Class 11 Volkswagen bugs both started at the same time in two different locations. A classic landrush start was held for the bugs as they shot off into the desert and jockeyed for position. King of the Hammers always has a high attrition rate no matter what class you are running. Out of 25 starters, only 15 finished. Vandermark was one of those finishers, but he did not see the podium. When the dust settled, Alex Gonzales brought home the victory ahead of Cisco Bio. Rounding out the podium in third was desert racing veteran Larry Roeseler.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-6500\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/KOH-Class-11-Showdown_1450-Terra-Crew-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nIn the Terra Crew race, Vincent Munoz stood atop the podium. Ken Knudsen and Darren Parsons finished second and third. Roeseler will campaign the number 43 Baja Jerky Trophy Truck. Roeseler has been racing in Baja since his first finish in 1972.\r\n\r\n\u201cI am thrilled to be taking part in the 54th Baja 1000,\u201d said Larry Roeseler. \u201cI finished my first Baja race in 1972 and it is such an honor to continue pursuing my passion after all these years. On behalf of the Baja Jerky Racing Team, I want to thank all of our fans for the support going into this race. Baja, Mexico holds such a special place in my heart and is the inspiration behind Baja Jerky and the Baja Jerky Racing Team. This race can be grueling and attempting to solo it is no easy task, but with the assistance of my co-driver and navigator Eric Brandt, I am up for the challenge!\u201d\r\n\r\nRoeseler won the SCORE Baja 500 this year after both McMillin\u2019s received penalties. This will be a massive undertaking for the Baja veteran. The course covers 1200 miles of Baja\u2019s roughest and toughest terrain.
