The race started out with CJ Greaves leading the race. CJ would pull into the hot pits twice with truck issues. Eventually he ended up parking there and becoming a spectator. The carnage in the class continued as Kyle Chaney\u2019s truck caught fire. The safety crew was there in seconds to extinguish the flames. Jimmy Henderson went to battle during the race but broke after heavy contact with Johnny Greaves. Adrian Cenni looked like he would grab another win as he took the lead. A shredded rear tire would close that door, putting a Cenni a lap down after the hot pits. Johnny Greaves rolled causing body panels to fly everywhere. Andrew Carlson became the race leader but crashed after hitting a tractor tire in the infield. That put rookie Kainan Baker in the lead. Baker lost the lead and soon it was the battle of Johnny\u2019s. Johnny Holtger and Johnny Greaves would race to the finish. Johnny Greaves took the victory with Holtger coming in second and Cenni third. \u201cI wasn\u2019t going to let you win one before I won one,\u201d Greaves told Holtger at the podium.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn Pro-2, Ryan Beat had all his ducks in a row. Beat was out front early in the race and dominated. Beat put several truck lengths on his fellow competitors to hold on for the win. Over in Pro-Lite, the race belonged to Trey Gibbs. In the Pro Side-by-Side class, Kainan Baker got passed by Kyle Chaney 100 yards from the finish line. Jeb Bootle secured a win in the Pro Stock side-by-side class.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nWith just a Sprinter Van and a trailer, Lorenzo Bonacci and his dad made the trek to Wisconsin all the way from Southern California to race a pro-buggy in the Championship Off Road racing series. After other competitors experienced mechanical issues, the young Bonacci found himself in the lead. Bonacci put the hammer down and claimed his first victory in the series.\r\n\r\n\"\"","excerpt":"

Everyone was treated to door to door racing short course is known for.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the Pro-2 class, Ricky Gutierrez started \u00a0out front on the first lap. He held that position for several laps before Mickey Thomas came knocking on his back door. Gutierrez had steam coming out of his truck indicating things were getting hot. Literally! Gutierrez was able to get the truck cooled down temporarily during the mandatory caution. Thomas put the hammer down and the two drivers swapped lead positions bringing the crowd to their feet. The heat got the best of Gutierrez giving Thomas the lead and season opening win.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn Pro-4, the \u201cWildman\u201d Adrian Cenni put on a show for the fans. Swapping the lead back and forth with Jimmy Henderson, Cenni came out on top for a podium. The series has been going strong since its first race amid the 2020 pandemic. Now entering its fourth year, the series returns with six weekends across twelve rounds of racing.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe series kicks off in May at Dirt City Motorplex. Championship Off-Road will visit the venue twice during the season, returning in late July. Antigo is also back on the schedule in early June along with ERX Motorpark and Bark River. This is the first time the Pro races have raced on the track. Dirt City opened in 2019 and has held at least one sportsman race event.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn Pro 2, Kyle Kleiman made early moves to grab the lead in Round 3. After the yellow flag restart, Keegan Kincaid tried to do everything he could to catch Kleiman but was unsuccessful and had to settle for second. In Round 4, Mickey Thomas grabbed an early lead and never looked back winning his first Pro 2 victory.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nKyle Greaves continued his winning streak in Pro-Light. Winning both rounds 3 &4, Greaves remains undefeated in the series.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nRound 3 saw a shake-up in Pro-4. Kyle Leduc had the lead when the race started. Leduc would go up on the bike in a corner with a nice save. CJ Greaves began closing in on Leduc. On the restart, Greaves put a huge amount of pressure on Leduc. Leduc finally made a mistake, rolling the truck in a corner with just a few laps to go. Greaves went on to win the race. Kyle Leduc was back in Round 4, grabbing win number 102 along with the series points lead.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nChampionship Off-Road will head back to ERX Motorsports Park in Elk River, Minnesota to make up the cancelled Bark River rounds on August 15 and 16.","excerpt":"
