Chaney is the newly crowned King after beating all of the big fire breathing Ultra4 cars in the rock sections in his CanAm Maverick side-by-side. The win is huge and historic as a UTV has never won the premiere class at the Hammers and Chaney has never won a King title.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_11987\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Kyle Chaney secured a historic win at the Race of Kings beating out all of the Ultra4 cars to victory in a CanAm UTV.[\/caption]\r\n\r\n\u201cWe had a good car last year, this year we put a lot of effort into this race. To come out here and win, it was awesome,\u201d said Chaney. Co-driver Terry Madden helped Chaney out on the rock trails. Both have extensive experience at the Hammers. Like Chaney, Madden has never gotten a win in the King of the Hammers premiere class. Chaney has multiple UTV Championship wins at the Hammers.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_11983\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Paul Wolff passes Loren Healy in the rocks at Jackhammer.[\/caption]\r\n\r\nThe day was drama filled at the Race of Kings. Paul Wolff started out front after securing the top qualifying spot. Loren Healy quickly took command of the race in the desert loop but struggled when he got to Jack Hammer. Wolff re-took the lead as Healy went down with mechanical issues and was forced to withdraw. Former king JP Gomez found himself in the lead on lap 3 but was passed by Josh Blyler. JP then had to stop and get out to change a tire. Up ahead Blyler was down with mechanical issues. Both he and his co-driver were out of the car attempting repairs. As both of those drivers were stopped on course near Kings Vito, Chaney took over the lead and never looked back. Saturday night under the lights, multiple Ultra4 classes including the Unlimited 4400 class took to the track which includes a special rock section just for them.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_10478\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Teammates Loren Healy and Vaughn Gittin Jr battle each other in the rock section at Crandon.[\/caption]\r\n\r\nRacing under the lights, Loren Healy\u2019s bronco screamed up the rocks at full tilt lap after lap. Healy began lapping a few vehicles in the field taking the checkered flag victory. Healy started mid-pack with Shannon Campbell leading the charge. JP passed as many cars as he could on the desert lap, avoiding a massive bottleneck of vehicles in Turkey Claw, the first obstacle on the course. He continued to pick off competitors before getting his own flat tire which took several minutes to change.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\u00a0\u00a0 \"\"\r\n\r\nUp front, JP\u2019s brother Raul Gomez, a two-time and defending King was battling out front. Raul flipped his vehicle on his lid on the last lap costing him valuable time, the lead and eventual win. Casey Currie moved to the lead but went down a broken driveshaft. Loren Healy also found himself in the lead before being forced to stop on the course with an issue. Soon, Kyle Chaney found himself ahead of all of the competitors and just miles from Hammertown with two rock obstacles left. Chaney blew a shock on his Can-Am Maverick UTV but continued to push through Resolution and Backdoor, taking the bypass. The course wound its way through some of the creek beds and up waterfalls along the Grand River. There were plenty of water crossings and if drivers weren\u2019t careful the water would cause engines to seize and parts to vapor lock. Some had exactly that misfortune just yards from the finish.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the end, Bryan Crofts came away with the 4400-class win. Crofts ran a near perfect race that put him on course for almost 2 hours, navigating through waterfalls, rock climbs and sometimes lap traffic that was stuck on the rocks. Points from the West series were totaled from April\u2019s Big Sky race in Montana, Visions which was part of the National Series and Crandon. While Paul Wolff struggled at Disney, he had secured enough points to bring home the West championship.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nAlso winning a Championship was Loren Healy, driving a fun-haver Bronco. Healy also took home a first place at Disney. In the 4500 Modified Class, Duane Garretson won the championship. Cody St Claire took home a win in the class at Disney. Several drivers participated in the event just because they wanted the opportunity to race at Crandon.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nThe race was held under the lights with a special rock section in the back of the woods. Hundreds of fans stayed into the night to watch the purpose built 4400 rock buggies hang it all out. New to the format this year was the opportunity for UTV\u2019s and Every Man Challenge Vehicles to participate in the race. Being a final points race, made things exciting for the drivers.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nLoren Healy was the fastest all night in his custom Bronco-like Ultra4 car.
