Guthrie Jr is competing in the challenger class. Stage three was a long 455 miles. It was also a semi-marathon as mechanics only had two hours to work on vehicles and fix any issues.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the bike class, former champion Sam Sunderland struggled again with his GasGas bike, having starting issues. Sunderland was forced to withdraw from the rally.\u00a0 Ricky Brabec had an excellent day with a second-place finish, but the day and stage win belonged to Kevin Benavides.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nOver in the car class Lucas Moraes was the top dog of the day driving for Toyota Gazoo Racing. Mattias Ekstrom finished second. Saudi favorite Yazeed Al Rajhi knocked Carlos Sainz off the top of the pedestal in the overall standings. The GR DKR Hilux EVO T1U will be driven by five crews at the rally which include two new rookie drivers. This will be the biggest team Toyota Gazoo Racing has ever fielded at the Dakar Rally. The new vehicle is wider. The air conditioning unit was moved, and the Hilux was outfitted with a new cooling package for redundancy.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nDrivers for the team include Giniel de Villiers who brings years of extensive rally experience. Giniel won the rally in 2009 and has fifteen top five finishes. Lucas Moraes and Seth Quintero also join the team. Moraes entered a privately-owned Toyota Hilux in 2023 and spent most of the rally running in second. Moraes ultimately finished third overall.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nSeth Quintero and co-driver Dennis Zenz will compete in a TGR Hilux. Quintero has previously competed at the Rally in the SSV class.
