As we look ahead, there are too many variables that could impact the financial commitment and overall health of the series going forward, which necessitated this difficult course of action.\"\r\n\r\nThe series has hosted races for 12-years. The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series began after the 2008 financial failure of Championship Off Road Racing (CORR). Former CORR employee Tony Vanillo convinced Lucas Oil Products to invest in short course off-road to give west coast racers a place to race. Watson was out front in both rounds ahead of second place Matt Brister. In Round 9, Trey Gibbs was able to get around Matt Brister for a second-place podium finish.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nBrock Heger was out front in Pro-Lite in Round 9. Heger won the race wire to wire. Ronnie Anderson finished second with Cole Mamer finishing third. In Round 10, Heger had enough points for the championship, all he had to do was start the race and save the truck. Ronnie Anderson was out front. After several cautions, the dust settled, and Christopher Polvoorde made it to the lead and took the win.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nThe tightest points battle was in the Pro-2 class. Jerett Brooks came into the final rounds with the points lead. Doug Mittag started Round 9 out front. It wasn\u2019t long before Brooks came from behind to take the lead. Ryan Beat was able to get around Mittag for second. Mittag finished third. In Round 10, Cory Winner was the polesitter. Winner was quickly passed by Trevor Leighton who led several laps. Leighton spun out and got passed by several trucks. It wouldn\u2019t be long before Jerett Brooks found his way to the front. Doug Mittag wasn\u2019t having any of it and drove his way right to the front and stayed there for the finish. Ryan Beat took another second-place finish. Brooks ended up third. The event was held without spectators. Strict COVID protocols were required for the series to host the event which included social distancing and mandatory face masks at the venue.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nIn ProBuggy, Elliot Watson swept the weekend winning all three rounds. Watson now has six consecutive wins under his belt. Matt Brister was out front but could not hold off the faster Watson. In both Round 6 and 7, Brister would have flat tire issues.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nBrock Heger won both rounds 6 & 7. Christopher Polvoorde was out front early in Round 6, but a broken throttle cable would sideline his efforts. In Round 7, Heger held off Cole Mamer for the win, but in Round 8, it was Mamer who finally took the victory.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nMyles Cheek consistently swept the weekend in Production UTV class.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nJerett Brooks took a Round 6 win leading the race wire to wire. After several postponements, cancellations and rescheduling of venues, the series hosted opening rounds at Glen Helen Raceway in Southern California. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, fans were not allowed to attend the event. The racing however, was still exciting.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nSaturday\u2019s Round 1 Pro Buggy race saw Matt Brister secure his first national podium. Darren Hardesty and Eliot Watson took second and third. Cameron Steele was also back behind the wheel in the buggy class mixing it up with the seasoned Pro Buggy stars. During Sunday\u2019s Round 2 Pro Buggy race, Trey Gibbs took top honors with Eliot Watson in second and Dale Ebberts in third.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the Pro-Lite class, Cole Mamer was the top the qualifier in Round 1. When the dust settled, Christopher Polovoorde took the top spot on the podium. Ronnie Anderson took second and Maddix Bailey third. Round 2, Cole Mamer finally made it to the top spot with Brock Heger in second and Madix Bailey back in the third spot.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nThe best battles of the weekend happened in the Pro-2 class. Jerett Brooks took the victory, Ricky Gutierrez held onto second holding off Brian Deegan who was hot on his heels in the last turn, all the way to the finish line. Round 2, the gloves came off. Much more contact between trucks. Ryan Beat led several laps before a flat tire would force him into the hot pits. Beat managed to stay on the lead lap, while several others would not be so lucky. Nevada was scheduled to move into Phase 3 at the beginning of July, however Governor Steve Sisolak is extending Phase 2 until the end of July. This means the series will not be allowed to host an event under the phased opening plan.\r\n\r\nThe Governor\u2019s decision was based on an uptick of COVID-19 cases in the state. The series was originally set to host the opening rounds Saturday and Sunday July 25-26. The opening rounds of the season were originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, March 14th<\/sup> and 15th<\/sup>, 2020 at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California. The series says the weeklong forecast leading into the weekend is filled with rain that will present an array of potential challenges in putting on the event. The series was forced to make a proactive cancellation in the best interest of all parties.\r\n\r\n\u201cThis was not a decision that we came to lightly. We know that our competitors have put in months of preparation for this weekend, and we know our passionate fanbase has been eagerly awaiting the start of the 2020 season,\u201d explained Ritchie Lewis, Director of Race Operations. \u201cFrom the moment we became aware of the weather forecast and were subsequently forced to consider making such a difficult decision, we took every single element into consideration. Ultimately, the ability to host a successful event, both for our competitors and for our fans, was the driving force behind our decision.
