Eli Tomac has had a winning streak in the 450 class, but it appears Chase Sexton edged him out in a tie breaker.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe opening round began with Ryan Dungey grabbing the holeshot. Chase Sexton was right there as well. Sexton moved to the lead and shortly after, Dungey experienced a mechanical issue with his bike. Tomac fell into second, chasing Dungey down. As the clock wound down, Tomac finally made a pass for the lead. Tomac\u2019s tire would get caught in a rut, sending the rider down. Sexton who was close behind crashed into Tomac and also went down. Both quickly got back underway, neither losing a position. Tomac went on to win the moto with Sexton finishing second. Jason Anderson made a late pass on Ken Roczen for third. In the second moto, the battle continued between Sexton and Tomac. Sexton held off Tomac at every turn winning the moto effectively ending Tomac\u2019s streak.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nOver in the 250 class, Jo Shimoda had a moto 1 holeshot. The Lawrence siblings were right behind. Soon Hunter seized the lead. Jett followed a short time later getting around Shimoda for second. Hunter would win with Jett second and Shimoda third. In the second moto, Justin Cooper found himself out front. Shimoda and the Lawrence siblings were right behind. At some point Hunter went down allowing Jett to move into third. Jett eventually made a pass on Shimoda. Jett was never able to catch Cooper who grabbed his first season wire to wire win. Tomac now commands the season points lead by five over Chase Sexton. With the series at the halfway point, Tomac is in good championship contention as long as he continues his consistency.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the first 450 moto, it was Eli Tomac heading up the pack despite Joey Savatgy earning the holeshot. Tomac made quick work getting the lead, leaving the battles behind him. Sexton worked his way up to Tomac\u2019s rear tire, at one-point riding side-by-side. Sexton finally made a pass but quickly crashed on a downhill. Tomac regained the lead and never looked back. Sexton remounted and finished second with Jason Anderson third. In the second 450 moto, Savatgy again had the holeshot. Sexton and Ken Roczen battled for the other two positions. Both riders passed Savatgy to run first and second. Soon Tomac moved in for an easy pass on Roczen. The battle then focused on Sexton and Tomac. As time ticked away, Tomac made a clean move to gain the lead. Sexton kept the pressure on Tomac right through the checkered flag. Tomac had swept another weekend.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the 250 class, it was no surprise that Jett Lawrence was out front battling with Justin Cooper. As the two attempted not to tangle into each other, Hunter Lawrence shot to the lead. Both brothers would battle right through lap traffic. Jett was back out front and kept his brother at bay with a Moto 1 victory. In Moto 2, both Lawrence brothers were back at it. A red flag would force a restart. This time Justin Cooper was out front. Jett soon made a pass for the lead. Roczen was out front early in first moto but it wasn\u2019t enough to hold off Eli Tomac. In the second moto, Cairoli scored another holeshot, but just like earlier in the day, it was short lived as Roczen immediately moved to the front. Chase Sexton was able to get past later in the moto. Sexton crashed on the final lap and Roczen regained the lead taking the moto win and as well as the overall for the weekend.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe 250 class saw Levi Kitchen out front winning wire to wire. In the second moto, it was all about the Lawrence brothers. Hunter grabbed the holeshot. Behind him, Justin Cooper and Jett Lawrence were battling. Jett finally made a pass for second. Chase Sexton led the charge in the 450 class while Jett Lawrence swept the 250 class.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe first 450 moto started off with Ken Roczen leading the field at the holeshot. It wasn\u2019t long before Eli Tomac and Shan McElrath were all battling for the lead. Chase Sexton worked his way through all of them to lead and capture the first win of the season. In the second Moto, Sexton was back out front. Roczen did all he could to get the top spot rocketing back into the lead for the first half of the moto. Sexton patiently waited, finally making his move to regain the lead and eventually take another win.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the 250 class, Justin Cooper had the holeshot. Lawrence\u2019s rival, Justin Cooper swept the final round held at the famous Hangtown race track in northern California. It wasn\u2019t enough to unseat Lawrence who took over the points lead just a few rounds ago.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIt wasn\u2019t easy for Lawrence who fought all season. He crashed on the opening lap and quickly remounted the bike. He had to finish the moto, or his championship hopes would be lost. Lawrence managed to finish in 8th<\/sup>. That gave him an 11-point lead over Cooper. Lawrence needed a 7th<\/sup> place finish or better in the second moto to clinch the title. Lawrence went down again after the second moto after chasing down Max Vohland. Up front Cooper was in the lead. Lawrence regained composure and began working his way up. With just minutes to go, Lawrence managed to finish in third place.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cIt feels so great,\u201d exclaimed Lawrence. \u201cI rode\u00a0so\u00a0<\/em>bad today and Cooper rode awesome. I loved racing him this season because he kept me on my toes. Just over three months ago, the season started there and at that time it was anyone\u2019s guess who would win the championship. Ken Roczen had a good run this season, but it wasn\u2019t enough close the points deficit between Dylan Ferrandis at the end of the season.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nIn Moto one, Ferrandis scored the win. A second-place finish in Moto two, was all Ferrandis needed to clinch the title. He becomes the first Frenchman in 30 years to win the championship. The 450 class has seen 26 different title holders in the last 50 years. Eli Tomac ended up with the overall victory for the day after a Moto two win.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nOver in the 250 class, Jett Lawrence has been locked in a tight points battle with Justin Cooper. High temperatures and high humidity made the day challenging for the riders, but the battles continued.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the first 250 moto, Jett Lawrence grabbed an early lead charging past Justin Cooper. Jeremy Martin also made a hard charge, putting a ton of pressure on Lawrence. An unfortunate crash would end Martin\u2019s race and he would have to be karted off the track with a wrist injury. Lawrence went on to win the moto. Jo Shimoda ended up finishing second. In Moto 2, Shimoda had the lucky holeshot. Jett Lawrence made his back to the front to take over the lead. Lawrence took another win and the overall.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThings continued to heat up in the 450 class. Points leader Dylan Ferrandis was out front until Ken Roczen came out of nowhere to take the lead. Ferrandis wasn\u2019t going to let Roczen get away with that and regained the lead. Eli Tomac was back in the mix too, swapping positions with Roczen. Ferrandis ended up with the win. Cooper Webb had an early lead in Moto 2 battling with Ferrandis. Tomac was back on the move earning the lead from both riders. It was Tomac\u2019s lucky day as his Moto 2 win and second place finish in Moto 1 earned him the overall.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nThere is just one round left in the season, which be held right back where it started at Fox Raceway in Southern California. Jett Lawrence continues to hold the lead over Justin Cooper in the 250 class by 11 points. The weekend weather was perfect for a motocross race.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nWhen the gate dropped in the first 450 moto, Ken Roczen went down in a crash. Roczen was karted off the track by the medical team. Justin Barcia had the lead with Adam Cianciarulo chasing him down. Cianciarulo\u2019s front tire washed out in a corner sending the rider down off the bike. Dylan Ferrandis moved into position to battle with Barcia. Barcia would take the victory. Eli Tomac managed a third-place finish. In the second 450 moto, Justin Barcia was back out front until Ken Roczen who had plenty of time to dust himself off from the first moto crash made a pass for the lead. Dylan Ferrandis and Cooper Webb tangled up in a crash on the track. Roczen pulled off a win in the second moto but it wasn\u2019t enough as Justin Barcia grabbed the overall, salvaging his season point deficit.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the first 250 moto, Justin Cooper was out front with the holeshot. Jeremy Martin caught Cooper and made a pass for the lead and the win. Jeremy Martin had the lead in the second moto. Six riders went down in a pile-up shortly after. Up front Michael Mosiman made a pass on Justin Cooper for 2nd<\/sup> place. Jeremy Martin went on to win the second moto and overall win.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nDylan Ferrandis is still way out front in the 450 points standings. This is the first race of the season on the east coast and third event of the summer tour.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nAdam Cianciarulo grabbed the 450 Moto 1 holeshot and was out front. As the moto got underway, Ken Roczen found himself briefly on the ground as did Chase Sexton. In what was a crazy race, Cianciarulo crashed into a lapped rider right before the finish. He regained his composure to take the win. Cianciarulo was back out with great speed in the second moto. Eli Tomac and Adam Cianciarulo battled for the lead as the moto got underway. Tomac cruised to a win. Cianciarulo settled for fourth. The consistency of Dylan Ferrandis\u2019 two second place podiums earned him the overall and points lead for the season stealing away Ken Roczen\u2019s hard earned red plate.\r\n\r\n\"\"\u00a0 \"\"\r\n\r\nIn the 250 Moto #1, RJ Hampshire had a solid lead, but Jett Lawrence was behind Hampshire making his way to the front. Suddenly, Hampshire\u2019s bike suffered mechanical issues, knocking him out of the race. When the dirt settled, Jalek Swoll took the Moto 1 win. In the second Moto, Colt Nichols was out front with the holeshot. Justin Cooper would take the lead away from Nichols. Cooper managed to hold off Jett Lawrence for the win.
