Next year marks the 50-year anniversary of the popular outdoor motocross series.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3839\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Fox-Raceway-at-Pala-1024x575.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"359\" \/>\r\n\r\nThe season will start and finish at Fox Raceway near San Diego, California. Both events are scheduled over holiday weekends. The opening round will be held May 28<sup>th<\/sup> which is Memorial Weekend. The series finishes September 3<sup>rd<\/sup>, Labor Day weekend at the same venue. In between the series visits its usual tracks throughout the summer including Hangtown, Thunder Valley, High Point, Redbud, Southwick, Spring Creek, Washougal, Unadilla, Budds Creek and Ironman.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3180\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/FoxRacewayII_FerrandisPodium-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nThe series is on track for another epic season. The event marked the second half of the season. Washougal was Round 7 in the series.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2916\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/ProMX_Washougal_Eli-Tomac-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/> <img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2917\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/ProMX_Washougal_Dylan-Ferrandis-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\r\n\r\nChase Sexton grabbed the holeshot in the first 450 moto. Behind Sexton, Cooper Webb and Ken Roczen were locked in a battle for position. Marvin Musquin also joined them. Sexton maintained his lead and claimed the win. In Moto 2, Cooper Webb briefly had the lead before Dylan Ferrandis got around him. Eli Tomac smoothly got around several riders to the second spot. Tomac got right behind Ferrandis but by then he was out of laps to move to the lead. Ferrandis takes the win and Sexton grabbed the overall.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2918\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/ProMX_Washougal_JustinCooper-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/> <img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2920\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/ProMX_Washougal_JeremyMartin-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\r\n\r\nIn the 250 class, several riders were collected in a crash in turn 1, Justin Cooper was out front in an early lead and eventual first moto win. RJ Hampshire and Jeremy Martin were on the podium in second and third place. Justin Cooper was back out front with the holeshot in the second moto with Jeremy Martin looking to steal his spot. Martin finally got around Cooper. Cooper later made a mistake and went off the bike losing his second-place spot and washing away his hopes for the overall win of the weekend. The season opener will now take place Saturday June 13<sup>th<\/sup> in Jacksonville, Florida at WW Ranch Motocross Park.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-639\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Lucas-Oil-Pro-Motocross-2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\r\n\r\n\u201cWhile the whole world is trying to cope with the ongoing global pandemic that is the COVID-19 coronavirus, we have diligently looked at the impending future of our own championship and the impact this will inevitably have on this annual summer tradition,\u201d said Davey Coombs, President of MX Sports Pro Racing. \u201cWhile the series has unfortunately already been affected\u00a0by this pandemic with the cancellation of American motocross\u2019 longest running event, the Hangtown Motocross Classic, we have developed a condensed and redesigned schedule for the remainder of the championship that will now start a little less than three months from now.\u201d\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nCoombs goes on to say postponing the start of the season will give the series time to obtain a clearer picture of the coronavirus pandemic and allow ample time for the riders, teams, partners and fans to plan accordingly.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nUnder the new schedule, the series will run 11 events.
