Series Champions were crowned over the weekend at the final Glen Helen race.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nSeven points separated Christopher Polvoorde and Madix Bailey. Bailey remained in a good position for most of the weekend. Sunday, Bailey would start out front and lead the field. He did everything he could to hold a charge from Polvoorde. In an instant, three laps into the race, Bailey rolled on his side in a turn. A full-course caution was brought out and the track crew righted Bailey, so he could continue on the lead lap. A lap later, heartbreak struck again as his race would end after contact with other trucks. Christopher Polvoorde went on to win the race and season championship.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nOne of the most hotly contested battles right to the finish would be in Pro Buggy. It was an all-out track fight between Trevor Briska and Trey Gibbs. Both would charge extremely hard every lap right up until the final turn coming off a jump side-by-side. Briska got crossed up with Gibbs and ended up driving over him to finish the race. Gibbs was shut down. In a turn of events, race officials penalized Briska for rough driving and the championship was awarded to Gibbs.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nHusband and wife team of Jason and Corry Weller finished together first and second in points in the SR1 UTV class racing a pair of Can Ams. Dave Mason Jr cruised to an easy finish and championship in his eBay Motors backed Pro-2. Connor Barry locked up a modified kart championship. The pits were full for two-days of racing.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nOne of the most competitive races both days was in the Pro Lite class. Saturday, Christopher Polvoorde went door to door with \u201cMadman\u201d Madix Bailey. In the end, Polvoorde took the victory. The story was different during Sunday\u2019s Round 6. Jimmy Weitzel qualified on the pole. Madix Bailey started just next door. When the green flag dropped, Bailey rocketed out front. Christopher Polvoorde got collected with other trucks in the middle of the field. He would do everything he could to claw his way to the front. Weitzel regained the lead and stayed there the rest of the race. Polvoorde managed to finish second with Bailey third.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nIn Pro2, Ricky Gutierrez was back on the west coast racing the GAS series. Both days he beat Dave Mason Jr for the top spot on the podium. Matt Brister was number one on the podium in Round 5. He wasn\u2019t so lucky in Round 6 after mechanical problems. Trevor Briska was the winner in Round 6.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nIn Mod Kart, Trey Eggleston took the top spot on the podium after Connor Barry had mechanical problems. Barry was back in number one on Round 6. Racing was held both Saturday and Sunday. Both days included a full schedule of racing with full fields in many classes.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nPro-2 saw a much fuller field of trucks compared to the first event at Victorville. Mason Thomas was out front early in the race. He had a lot of pressure from RJ Anderson who made the pass for the lead and took the win. Ronnie Anderson stepped up behind the wheel of his brother RJ\u2019s 11-year old Pro-2 on Sunday. Ronnie Anderson was out front as soon as the green flag dropped and never looked back. A right rear flat tire would hurt Dave Mason Jr\u2019s chances for a win putting him one lap down. With Saturday\u2019s 3rd<\/sup> place podium, Mason Jr holds onto the Pro-2 season points lead.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn Pro-Lite, round 3, Jimmy Weitzel was out front holding off the rest of the field. Ronnie Anderson quickly moved up the field to the top spot. Christopher Polvoorde took second. Sunday\u2019s Round 4 saw Ronnie Anderson in third. Top honors went to Christopher Polvoorde. GAS is run by some familiar faces in the industry. Lee Perfect has teamed up with Ultra-4 and King of the Hammers creator Dave Cole to form the series.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nThe GAS event was a hybrid regional and national event. The usual Kart Classes, Buggy Pro-2, UTV and Pro-Lite classes were run alongside Class 11and mini-stock truck classes not usually seen at a national short course event. There were two full days of racing with a total of 141 entries.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nThe event saw several of the rising superstars of short course such as Christopher Polvoorde, Madix Bailey, Dave Mason Jr and Matt Brister. A limited number of spectator tickets were sold as fans were allowed to sit in the grandstands. Fans haven\u2019t been able to attend short course race events on the west coast since the beginning of the pandemic.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nMadix Bailey swept the weekend in the Pro-Lite class. In Pro-2, Trevor Leighton got around Dave Mason Jr for the win on Day 1. Mason took the victory on day 2. Trevor Briska was on the top spot on the podium Day 1 with Matt Brister taking it on Day 2.
