The Pro4 Championship battle continues to heat up as several drivers raced door-to-door at Bark River. Photo: Champ Off Road[\/caption]\r\n\r\nJohnny Greaves was one of the biggest winners on Saturday, capturing the PRO4 victory in a thrilling race that saw him battle Mickey Thomas for the lead. Greaves grabbed the holeshot and ran near the front throughout the race before Thomas moved into first on Lap 9. One lap later, however, Thomas slowed, allowing Greaves to regain the lead. Greaves held off a late charge from Cole Mamer to secure his second win of the season by just eight-tenths of a second. Mamer finished second, while Thomas recovered to complete the podium. Sunday brought more of the same high-level competition, with Mickey Thomas rebounding to win the PRO4 race while Johnny Holtger claimed the PRO2 victory. After Kyle Greaves briefly led the opening lap, Beat took advantage of a mistake by Greaves and moved into first. Beat then steadily built his advantage while a battle developed behind him between Johnny Holtger, Greaves and Ricky Gutierrez. A late incident involving Greaves and Gutierrez shuffled the order, but Beat remained comfortably out front to earn his first victory since Crandon earlier in the season. Holtger finished second, with Gutierrez recovering to take third. Connor Barry strengthened his position in the PRO Lite championship with a victory of his own. After Matt Wood controlled the early laps, Barry made his move on Lap 4 and took command. Wood settled for second, while Joey Maciosek completed the podium. Chris Van Den Elzen's championship lead in PRO Spec came under pressure when Avery Hemmer's early lead disappeared after a flat rear tire. Van Den Elzen inherited the top spot, but Nick Visser eventually worked his way past and went on to claim his second consecutive victory. Dylan Parsons and Braden Beauchamp battled for the remaining podium spots, with Beauchamp taking second at the finish and Parsons third. Mark Steinhardt also returned to Victory Lane in PRO Buggy, earning his first win of the season. Steinhardt led from start to finish while Cole Bernloehr mounted a late charge, finishing just a half-second behind. Bootle and CJ Greaves ran first and second throughout the race, with Bootle holding off Greaves by only 0.333 seconds. The victory marked Bootle's third win during a six-race podium streak and further extended his championship advantage. Bootle was equally dominant in PRO Stock SxS, charging past early leader Brody Sands on Lap 4 before pulling away from the field for his fourth victory of the season. Sands finished second, while Collin Truett rounded out the podium.Holtger's PRO2 victory on Sunday came as he moved through a late-race battle and secured another important win, while the SxS divisions continued to be dominated by Bootle. The Pro SxS driver completed a weekend sweep, adding another victory to his championship-leading season. Several Sportsman competitors also produced standout performances. Gaborik Geyen swept the 200 SxS races and extended his winning streak to five, while William Holtger captured the 570 SxS victory and locked up the class championship. Ryan Beat lead the Pro-2 class over Mickey Thomas. The two drivers are separated by just six points. Trey Gibbs currently enjoys a comfortable lead in Pro-Lite, but Gibbs needs to keep the momentum up to keep Johnny Holtger from closing in on the Championship. Nick Visser and Dylan Parsons have a close battle in Pro-Spec and Jordan Bernloehr just recently took over the lead in Pro Buggy over Lorenzo Bonacci. Billy Buth isn\u2019t far behind in the class either. \r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting races of the day was the Pro-4 class. CJ Greaves had the early lead with the rest of field roaring right behind him. Just after the mandatory caution, Jimmy Henderson came off a jump close enough to cause CJ to swerve into a guardrail. Henderson moved into the lead. Unfortunately, Henderson was forced into the hot pits allowing Adrian Cenni to take command of the race. \r\n\r\nThe Pro-2 class also put on another exciting race for the fans with tight door to door action. Points leader, Cory Winner had the lead until Mickey Thomas found enough speed to claim the win. \r\n\r\nIn Pro-Lite, Saturday\u2019s winner Brody Eggleston pulled off the track early with a damaged truck. Madix Bailey had the lead until Trey Gibbs took over. That was short lived as Gibbs hit a rut and rolled the truck. Both Bailey and Kyle Greaves took over the top positions. Greaves was much faster than Bailey, shooting to the lead and making a win stick. Greaves is also the current point leader going into Crandon.","excerpt":"

Officials were forced to cancel the event citing Michigan\u2019s Coronavirus executive orders on gatherings, performances and events.\r\n\r\nThe group met on Monday and made the decision not to host a racing event. Michigan rules prohibit events to have no more than 500 people in attendance. The Bark River races traditionally draw thousands of fans.\r\n\r\nThe Lions Club released a statement that read:\r\n\r\nAlthough we are disappointed to make this announcement, we understand that the best interests of the health and safety of our club members, staff, volunteers, vendors, sponsors, racers, and race fans cannot be overlooked.<\/em>\r\n\r\nWe look forward to the summer of 2021 when we will provide our fans with the best professional short course, off-road racing in the country. Our commitment to host a world class event, and to the safety of everyone involved will continue to be a priority. \r\n\r\nThere is just one more race weekend left in the 2021 for Championship Off Road. It has all come down to a points battle. Jerett Brooks is leading in the coveted Pro-2 class. His closest competitor is Cory Winner. Winner has managed to gain more season points than Keegan Kincaid who looked unstoppable at the beginning of the season. Sunday, Brock Heger fought his way to the front for the victory. Mamer, who started fifth ended up second on the podium at the checkered flag.
