The Honda HRC Progressive rider was the class of the field in the 450 Class, overcoming a stacked lineup that included defending outdoor champion Jett Lawrence, former MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado, and 450 rookie Haiden Deegan. One of the biggest storylines entering the opener was Deegan's highly anticipated debut in the premier division after graduating from the 250 Class. The Yamaha rider showed flashes of speed as he began his rookie campaign against the sport's top riders.
