The Team Honda HRC rider controlled the action from the drop of the gate, leading every lap of both motos on his way to a perfect 1-1 score. The victory marked Lawrence's second consecutive overall win to open the outdoor season and further strengthened his position atop the championship standings. Kitchen capitalized on mistakes and misfortune among several title contenders to claim his first overall victory of the 2026 season. Championship leader Seth Hammaker battled through adversity to finish second overall, while Honda HRC's Jo Shimoda rounded out the podium in third. Sexton, who started outside of the top 10, wasted zero time making passes around multiple riders. His lap times got faster and faster. With just a couple minutes to go, Sexton had reached Plessinger and went on the attack. Plessigner fought back but briefly stalled allowing Sexton to get by and win the moto. In the second moto, Justin Cooper was out front. Jason Anderson made a pass for the lead until Chase Sexton came knocking on the door. A mistake caused Deegan to go down allowing Ryder DiFrancesco to gain second position. Deegan was able to get back into second but it wasn\u2019t enough to pass Vialle who took the moto win. In the second moto, Tom Vialle was back at it with another holeshot. Deegan attempted to get a run on Vialle again but was unsuccessful. As the laps ticked away, Deegan finally made a pass on Vialle using an alternate line. Deegan continued to extend his lead for the win. Deegan\u2019s 2-1 and Vialle\u2019s 1-2 finishes put both riders in a virtual tie. Deegan ended up with the overall as the second moto carries more weight. Kitchen maintained the lead capturing his first moto win of the season. After a weather delay, the second moto got underway. Deegan was once again out front but contact with Chance Hymas would collect several riders including Deegan. Casey Cochran enjoyed the lead for several laps. Jett went wire to wire leading 6.4 seconds over his brother Hunter. In the second moto, Jett was out front again. Chase Sexton made a pass for second and began battling with Hunter. Hunter made a pass on his brother for the lead until he went off track. Jett reclaimed the lead. In the second moto, Levi Kitchen claimed the holeshot. A red flag caused the race to restart and it was Kitchen out front again until Deegan went on the attack grabbing an early lead. Deegan went down in a crash allowing Tom Vialle to make a pass for the lead with Jo Shimoda and Levi Kitchen following. Deegan remounted in sixth. As the clock wound down, Deegan clawed his way back to the front. By this time Jo Shimoda had the lead. Shimoda went on to win the moto by 6 seconds over Deegan. Hunter lost traction, allowing his brother to make a pass for the lead. Both Lawrences continued to command the front of the field all the way to the end of the moto. In the second moto, Phil Nicoletti found success grabbing the holeshot. Jason Anderson moved to the lead with Jett running third. Chase Sexton soon inserted himself into the mix, and Nicoletti dropped back. Up front, Anderson and Jett battled for the lead. Once Jett made it into the lead, Sexton came knocking and soon both riders swapped lead positions for several laps. A mistake sent Sexton to the ground. The laps ticked down as Hymas commanded the lead. Lapped riders caused Hymas to bobble and lose the lead to Ty Masterpool. Soon Haiden Deegan came from the back and took over the lead on the white flag lap for the win. In the second moto, Coty Schock was out front with the holeshot. Soon Tom Vialle took over the lead but went down. Ty Masterpool ended up out front but also went down. Mark Fineis found himself in the lead for the first time but then crashed as well. When it was all said and done, Masterpool brought home the win with Deegan right on his rear tire. Masterpool had enough points to collect the overall win for the weekend.","excerpt":"

As Jett began to run away with the lead, a hard crash would send the defending champion to the ground and ultimately to the mechanics area to have his bike fixed. A perfect season was immediately out of the question and the winning streak was over. Hunter took over the lead, but it was Sexton who ultimately won the moto.\r\n\r\nIn the second moto, Justin Cooper was out front early. Jett tried to get to the lead but began to fade towards mid-pack. Tom Vialle was out front with both Levi Kitchen and Haiden Deegan battling for second. A track marker became lodged in Kitchen\u2019s boot allowing Deegan to get by. Deegan claimed the holeshot in Moto 2 and carried the momentum to win. Race officials determined Vialle violated rule 1.6.20 (Track Cuts\/Unfair Advantage) in Moto 1 and docked him accordingly. The opening round will be held May 28th<\/sup> which is Memorial Weekend. The series finishes September 3rd<\/sup>, Labor Day weekend at the same venue. \r\n\r\nIt wasn\u2019t easy for Lawrence who fought all season. He crashed on the opening lap and quickly remounted the bike. He had to finish the moto, or his championship hopes would be lost. Lawrence managed to finish in 8th<\/sup>. That gave him an 11-point lead over Cooper. Lawrence needed a 7th<\/sup> place finish or better in the second moto to clinch the title. Lawrence went down again after the second moto after chasing down Max Vohland. Up front Cooper was in the lead. Lawrence regained composure and began working his way up. With just minutes to go, Lawrence managed to finish in third place.\r\n\r\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Hangtown_Lawrence-Trophy-1024x683.jpg\")
