The series has not released official details for the cancellation, but the industry buzz is Best in the Desert had some permit issues. The race is run on BLM managed land in Parker.\r\n\r\n\u201cAt Best In The Desert, we strive to deliver off-road races that are the pinnacle of our sport's racing experience and have done so since 1984. Due to circumstances that surfaced, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Parker 250 and Parker 425. These two Parker AZ races are set to reconvene in 2024, at a date to be announced,\"\u00a0said Bryan Folks, co-owner and CMO of Best in the Desert.\r\n\r\nBest in Desert\u2019s February World Hare & Hound event will be renamed as the Golden State 250 to allow car and truck classes to race the event. The location for the Golden State 250 has not yet been named. Race dates are set for February 17th<\/sup>-19th<\/sup>. Letner and Thompson shared driving duties at the Best in the Desert Parker 425.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nJosh De Jong had the lead in the lead in the #17 Trick-Truck before pulling off with issues towards the first lap. B.J. Baldwin also had a strong run before Steve Olliges moved into the lead. Olliges was running solid until he lost steering 28 miles from the finish. Thompson who was driving the Concrete Motorsports #70 truck, put his head down and raced to the finish for the overall win.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nIn the 6100 class, Dustin Grabowski would get a top finish. The course was modified including start, finish and main pits, which have all been moved to Shea Road on Bureau of Land Management land. To comply with COVID restrictions, spectators will be charged to park on any BLM land.\r\n\r\n\u201cWe want to make it very clear to everyone that we take racer and local community health concerns seriously, especially as it affects our partners at the Colorado River Indian Tribes (CRIT),\u201d<\/strong> adds Race Operations Manager Jeff Phillips. \u201cWe will be implementing stringent COVID-19 mitigation protocols at the event. This includes following the guidelines established by La Paz County, and the town of Parker. And while neither currently requires masks while in the Town of Parker, we are highly recommending that all Best in The Desert racers, pit crews, sponsors, fans, and staff use masks while in the town of Parker as a display of common courtesy and appreciation for being their guest. Voss qualified 2nd<\/sup> during the time trials and had to get around top qualifier Kevin Thompson in the number 70 Trick Truck. Thompson\u2019s wheel man was none other than Harley Letner, who is notably fast! The payout for Voss was pretty significant. Voss took home $25,000 in Unlimited Class Maxxis Triple Crown bonus money plus a Ford contingency and Trick Truck side bet check of $40,000.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cThere's no better way to start off the season with a huge victory,\" said Voss.\u00a0\"Our King Shocks Trick Truck was perfect all day in Parker, and we really made a statement. I'm so psyched to get that first win of 2020 under the belt.
