The UTV World Championships were held in Lake Havasu over the weekend for the second year in a row. \u00a0Blurton won three back to back titles in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Blurton, driving a Can-AM and Piplic in a Polaris RZR, battled with each other during the entire race. Piplic won the UTV World Championship last year.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cWe decided this morning that we were going to set a good pace and see where we were at about halfway,\u201d Blurton said on the podium. \u201cThere were a couple guys on the first lap who were pushing at a crazy pace, and it sucks to let them leave you, but we knew what the car could take. Coming into the last lap (Ryan and I) were six seconds apart, I made a mistake and had to change a tire, and thought \u2018aw, man, second place,\u2019 but then we saw him break down.\u201d\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nKaden Wells had a successful battle in the Naturally Aspirated class. Wells turned around and raced in the final event of the day taking second overall despite limited horsepower. The Concrete Motorsports Team pulled off another win at the recent Best in the Desert Silver State 300. The team comes off of a January Parker 425 win and 2020 season championship. Thompson and Letner held off Kyle Jergensen, BJ Baldwin and Adam Householder with an overall time 4 hours, 42 minutes and 20 seconds.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nThe 300-mile Silver State 300 was run as a point-to-point race, starting in Alamo, Nevada. Ray Griffith took home a victory in the 6100-class finishing just 13-seconds ahead of Justin Blower. Dustin Grabowski finished third, just minute behind Griffith.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe UTV classes always see a large number of entries and the Silver State 300 was no exception. Phil Blurton and Beau Judge grabbed the overall victory in their Can-Am. The UTV class is one of the largest classes that raced all week. In addition to some of the most capable machines, the drivers are more talented at the Hammers than ever. There were 113 starters with only 46 finishing.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nWhen everything was said and done, Kyle Chaney took the win. He completed the 121-mile course in 3 hours, 47 minutes driving a Can-Am. This is Chaney\u2019s third attempt at King of the Hammers UTV event. Last year the UTV rolled on top of Chaney\u2019s foot dislocating it. Chaney got back in the car to finish the race in second before heading off to have his foot looked at. Chaney is also racing in the Hammers main event this Saturday. He is coming off a Desert Challenge win last weekend.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nCody Miller came in second. Miller\u2019s brother Hunter won the UTV event in 2020. Cody finished just 12 minutes behind Chaney. Phil Blurton rounded out the podium in third place. Blurton lost valuable time when he got a flat tire and discovered his jack had fallen off the vehicle. Blurton and his co-driver used a rock to get the tire changed.\r\n\r\n\"\"","excerpt":"

Racing under the night sky of Laughlin, UTV drivers had to make sure they had the perfect combination of lighting to see rough sections on the dark course. The night race kicked off a full weekend of events held in Laughlin.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nPerhaps the most exciting part of the night came right at the end of the unlimited race. Phil Blurton lead most of the race. On the last lap before the finish, Blurton sailed off the track crashing and breaking an a-arm. Unfortunately, that accident cost him the win and opened the door for 23-year old Mitch Guthrie to take the win in his Red Bull backed Polaris. Blurton would still manage to finish second.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nLarry Heidler took a win in the UTV Rally Class, while Kolton Hustead won the UTV Production Class.
