EcoLogic Partners is a legal collaboration between the Off-Road Business Association (ORBA), American Sand Association (ASA) as well as AMA District 37. The group is challenging plans by the California Coastal Commission to prohibit motorized recreation and overnight camping at the Oceano Dunes State Vehicle Recreation Area.\r\n\r\nThe Oceano dunes are a popular destination for UTV\u2019s, motorcycles and ATV\u2019s. The group wants the courts to recognize the Coastal Commission\u2019s lack of authority to close the area to motorized vehicles. California State Parks has announced the popular beach area is entering Phase 2 of the reopening plan.\r\n\r\nPhase one allowed street legal vehicles only in the dunes such as Jeeps and trucks. Phase two opens up the dunes to green sticker OHV vehicles such as quads, UTV\u2019s and motorcycles. Day use hours continue to be limited to 7am to 8pm. One-thousand permits for both street legal and OHV vehicles will be issued.\r\n\r\nOne hundred campsites will also be available at the Oceano Dunes. Rental concessions will remain closed.
