[{"id":4036,"permalink":"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/2021\/12\/05\/rob-maccachren-takes-emotional-mint-400-win\/","title":"Rob MacCachren Takes Emotional Mint 400 Win","content":"It wasn\u2019t the way Rob MacCachren wanted to win the Mint 400. Luke McMillin was the top qualifier, started out front and had the lead the entire race. In the final 5 miles late into the evening there was a thick layer of dust hanging over the dry lake bed north of Primm. Rob MacCachren was just a minute behind Luke. As Luke dodged lap traffic he slowed for a 90 degree turn on the course. Rob MacCachren clipped Luke accidentally, causing Luke\u2019s truck to roll over at least four times. MacCachren immediately stopped to help and offered to roll Luke back over. The rescue team was seconds away. Luke yelled to MacCachren to go finish and win the race. Rob refused. Luke spent the next few minutes trying to convince Rob to go finish the Mint 400. Reluctantly, Rob headed towards the finish line. He was distraught and emotional as he arrived. Minutes later Luke arrived at the finish with Rob still apologizing. The two won the Baja 1000 together a couple weeks earlier. Brent Fox won in the Spec Class while Chase Warren secured the Class 10 win.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-4048\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Mint400DustinJonesLimitedWinnerWeb-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nJust a day earlier in the limited race, Dustin Jones took home his first ever Mint 400 win, racing a Can-AM. The Pro-UTV driver finished 4 laps in eight hours, twenty-eight minutes and seventeen seconds. I struggled in the beginning, and also at round 2 in Arizona, in a technical section. After that race, I realized I really needed to focus on the technical stuff. My speed is fine when the courses are more open like motocross, but I needed to make improvements in the off-road stuff. The 9-mile course was set behind the Buffalo Bills and Primm Valley Resort Casinos. Racers had to run eight laps around the course.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3453\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/LegacyBattlegrounds2021_KadeWells-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nRacing got started early Saturday morning, just after daybreak. Jack Olliges was in a tight battle with Christian Strobel for the lead in the UTV Stock Class. With just one lap to go, Strobel ran out of fuel. Olliges took the win with Kaden Wells finishing second. Wells still won in his class- UTV Naturally Aspirated. Olliges also won the second day of racing earning the overall for the weekend. Ryan Piplic dominated the UTV Turbo Class.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3454\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/LegacyBattlegrounds2021_StrobelBattle-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3455\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/LegacyBattlegrounds2021_Olliges-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nThe 6100 class saw a stacked field of trucks. Travis Williams finished on top Day 1. On the second day, Brent Fox saw the podium. The overall class win went to Brent Fox. Connor McMullen was also in the same heat racing a 6200 buggy. He stayed out front of the entire field both days.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3458\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/LegacyBattlegrounds2021_BrentFox-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nIn the Unlimited classes, Eric Hustead lead the field both days for the overall win. Brandon Bailey locked up the points championship in the Class 1 early.
